White House sidestepped FDA to distribute hydroxychloroquine to pharmacies, documents show
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Oct. 31, 2020 | Christopher Rowland, Debbie Cenziper and Lisa Rein

The phone call in March from President Donald Trump's adviser carried an urgent message.

For days Trump had touted the off-label use of the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine as a potential cure for covid-19, despite a lack of scientific evidence it worked and amid mounting concerns about the dangers to patients with underlying medical conditions.

I believe the FDA released it and then did a take back on it.

Yes.

And Trump was mocked for saying that there’s money to be made with a Covid diagnosis.

Sorry journalists...the man has access to so much more information than you will ever have.

Wonder if giving HCQ prophylacticly to the elderly would help?

Wasn't Trump taking HCQ prophylacticly?

The Chronicle is a little slow on the pickup. We’ve been bypassing mountains of FDA regs in order to get medicine and equipment into the hands of doctors and hospitals.

This is a big So What story.

"...concerns about the dangers to patients with underlying medical conditions."

Do these idiots even think about what they’re writing? They weren’t distributed to households, they were distributed to pharmacies. A doctor would need to write a prescription, just like every other drug that requires a prescription and carries the same caution.

You might have tested negative 10 minutes later. The way they misuse those tests makes all results entirely fake.

Sometimes, like in a couple of cases around here, some people were notified that they were positive and they never even took the test. Now thats accuracy.

I have been a pharmacist for 34 years. I work in the Mississippi Delta and have personally witnessed several high risk patients that were treated successfully with the combination of Hydroxychloroquine, Azithromycin, and Zinc. Some were placed on a corticosteroid also.
I guess my point is that many people have received this treatment and stayed out of the hospital because of it. The fact that Trump did release Hydroxychloroquine to distributors should be lauded not breathlessly treated as a nefarious act.

Yes, he took HCQ prophylactically earlier this year.

And when he got the covid a few weeks back, he was given Regeneron, and said that he wanted to make it available to anyone needing it.

For free.

I have a retinologist who has been in practice 50 years. He checks huge numbers of people taking Hydroxichloroquin for the retinal side effects. He said in 50 years he had never seen or heard of one eye or heart problem. This doctor, my hero because I have 3 eye problems which he handles so carefully, has been nominated as one of America’s best doctors.

What I find positively insane, is that they still trot out
this argument that it causes heart problems. None the less
they’ve been giving it to lupus patients and some patients
with arthritis for over twenty years.

Have there been an abnormal amount of deaths? No.

Well I can point to over 230,000, by their own accounting.

Did they stop giving it to those patients at any time? Not
that I am aware of, but when Trump advocated its use, they
still trotted out this line. “Oh, Hydroxycloroquine, oh no,
heart heart heart.”

Trump did the best he could to help the citizens of this
nation, and he was fought every step of the way.

Now if Fauci or some other Leftist had come up with the
idea, dare I say Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, they would
have been heralded as the saviors of America.

The anti-Trump mouths need to sit the F down, and shut the
H up.

That was good work, but then when Trump himself caught the virus he allowed the White House doctor Sean Conley to omit hydroxychloroquine, and thereby destroyed the good work he had done in March. Tens of thousands of Americans may die because of that personal mistake by Trump.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

The Constitution gives the final responsibility to make such decisions only to elected government leaders, not to non-elected bureaucrats like those running the constitutionally undefined FDA imo.

Send "Orange Man Bad" federal and state government desperate Democrats home in November!

Supporting PDJT with a new patriot Congress and state government leaders that will promise to fully support his already excellent work for MAGA and stopping SARS-CoV-2 will effectively give fast-working Trump a "third term" in office imo.

I don’t see any problem with voting Republican ticket for 2020 elections.

Insights welcome.
