Why Trump Could Win Virginia
The American Spectator ^ | 9/30/2020 | MICHAEL GINSBERG AND RON WRIGHT

Posted on 10/27/2020 5:24:24 PM PDT by Coop

...Why do we think the Trump campaign is seizing on this opportunity to grab Virginia’s 13 Electoral College votes?

First, the polls are tightening. The most recent Judy Ford Watson Center for Public Policy (Christopher Newport University) poll has Biden with only a five-point lead on Trump among likely Virginia voters. It is a significant change from the double-digit lead Biden held in the spring and over the summer.

Second, the Trump campaign’s ground game and voter outreach is outclassing Biden’s. The Virginia Trump Victory effort has already been in contact with over 2.1 million voters via phone banking and door knocking, especially in the Northern Virginia suburbs. This is over half of Virginia’s voters and compares to a minimal effort by the Democrats this cycle. In 2016, Northern Virginia residents were besieged by mailings and union and liberal special interest groups undertaking extensive door-knocking campaigns for Hillary Clinton. Not this year. The Biden ground game and enthusiasm are a shell of Democrats’ historic efforts.

Third, President Trump has made real inroads with minority communities. Black voters make up one-fifth of the state’s electorate, and President Trump is moving the needle with Black (and Latino) male voters. As a Politico headline stated, “Biden’s weakness with Black and Latino men creates an opening for Trump.”...

Democrats need overwhelming majorities in northern va to swamp overwhelming majorities downstate. Republicans only need to shave off +7-8% off democrat totals in northern va and the tidewater for the state to go republican.

that’s very doable

as it is the downstate marjorities are going to swell much larger this election cycle.

It's strange. You could be on this thread promoting Pres. Trump, Nick Freitas and/or Scott Taylor, but all you're doing is slamming (without even any supporting evidence) a wounded combat veteran who has ten times the cojones you'll ever have as he takes the political fight to Mark Warner.

What a coward...

If you go to Gade’s website you won’t even find the word Trump or even Republican on it!!! That was a few ago, I haven’t returned there.

Don’t worry. I will dutifully vote for him even though Gade is a RINO NoVa loser . No money from me ....

“VA voted for the Republican presidential candidate from 1968 [through 2004].”

Demographics.

Back in 2004 NOVA wasn’t a third-world shithole, but it is now, not to mention all of the recently-radicalized leftist government “workers” and others whose jobs depend entirely on the public sector. Add in a bunch of ex-Republican suburban Karens, and voila!

Take out Fairfax and the inside-the-beltway areas, and Virginia has a fighting chance to do the right thing electorally. If DC ever really does become a state, it should have take back NOVA plus Montgomery & P.G. counties in Maryland. That would be one huge, disgusting sewer, but VA and MD might be salvaged.

Polling I’ve seen shows Warner in free-fall collapse.

You think you're being smart but you have no idea how clueless you are about the rapid changes that have been occurring in the VA political scene this year. Here's what Richmond looked like on Saturday: Depending on where you are I can demonstrate in real life terms to a degree that will dispel any level of skepticism. Tell me your district and I'll point you to the action.

let’s try that image again

remember this is Richmond, not some deep red area

and the person drawing that large crowd? He’s just a City Council candidate... this isn’t even a Congressional candidate!

After your behavior on this thread attacking our candidates, I suspect your loyalty and motives so you will get nothing from me.

You should not be allowed to post on FR.

I live in VA and I have seen the RINOS screw everything up royally. They run the GOP here and it shows.

VA-5 will be closer than usual but we’re fine.

VA-10 is hot and heavy and we have a pretty good chance to pick that one up also. Schools fiascos in Fairfax and Loudoun have been brutalizing the Dems there.

... you called Freitas a RINO

the level of ignorance - or bad faith - it takes to make that statement is extreme beyond belief

you sound like a Dem trying to start shit

Then you haven’t been involved at all this year and it shows.

Steve Knotts is doing a fantastic job and Fairfax is putting out its best effort in decades. Other NoVA units (Arlington, Falls Church) have started to get serious also. Alexandria is a work in progress, sadly, but there’s nothing we can do with VA-8 in the short term anyway.

If you think the VA GOP is still the smouldering wreckage that it was over the past dozen years or so... think again.

New chairman. New attitude. Revival all over the state. GOPers working harder than they have been in ages.

We ain’t there yet but we will be... and we will put the Dems out not just once, but once and for all.

Here’s a good place to start to bring yourself up to speed on how different things are this year than last.
