...Why do we think the Trump campaign is seizing on this opportunity to grab Virginias 13 Electoral College votes?
First, the polls are tightening. The most recent Judy Ford Watson Center for Public Policy (Christopher Newport University) poll has Biden with only a five-point lead on Trump among likely Virginia voters. It is a significant change from the double-digit lead Biden held in the spring and over the summer.
Second, the Trump campaigns ground game and voter outreach is outclassing Bidens. The Virginia Trump Victory effort has already been in contact with over 2.1 million voters via phone banking and door knocking, especially in the Northern Virginia suburbs. This is over half of Virginias voters and compares to a minimal effort by the Democrats this cycle. In 2016, Northern Virginia residents were besieged by mailings and union and liberal special interest groups undertaking extensive door-knocking campaigns for Hillary Clinton. Not this year. The Biden ground game and enthusiasm are a shell of Democrats historic efforts.
Third, President Trump has made real inroads with minority communities. Black voters make up one-fifth of the states electorate, and President Trump is moving the needle with Black (and Latino) male voters. As a Politico headline stated, Bidens weakness with Black and Latino men creates an opening for Trump....

“2A movement could bring VA home”
My county is pretty Republican, but the commies in Richmond whacked a hornet’s nest with their RADICAL 2A agenda. To whit, most gun owners out here are hunters first, and voters not. Warner conceived a brilliant strategy to mollify the hunters two decades ago, and the current CPUSA drones in Richmond woke them up. When our county had its “2A Sanctuary Status” town hall, I would guess that 2/3 of the households in the county were represented. I’m not saying the 2A voters could stem the tide of unstopped influx of commies from the North, but if it goes that is a big part of the reason why.
Nope. Northam's scandal broke after the state went to the rats.
No, youre wrong on this. That scandal broke early last year. The election happened in November 2019.
Make northern Virginia and tidewater report their vote result numbers first. That way they dont know how much fraud it takes to win. Watch the 2016 election result to see how these areas held back to pull it off for Hillary and Timmy boy.
Hope and pray to overcome the swamp sickness in Virginia.
2017
I am a specialist in Virginia politics and I can tell you in no uncertain terms that your impressions are completely wrong.
Freitas will win handily and Virginia is very much in play for Trump.
We will also take the 2nd district and likely the 10th and the Senate seat also.
The situation for the VA GOP has turned around in a big way over the past year. The loserthink is gone and all over the state GOPers are bearing down and doing the hard work it takes to win the state back.
It won’t all come to fruition this year, but at least some of it will.
I agree with you on everything but am worried about Gade. Have you seen any polling? I live in VA Beach and haven't heard a peep from or about him.
I don't watch much TV but I've seen a ton of Warner ads on YouTube.
As far as I can tell the city of Richmond is entirely outside the district, though of course it makes sense to put up signs there. The point is that no Richmond residents vote in CD-7, but it’s not remotely the slam-dunk it was back in Tom Bliley’s day (under different boundaries, as well).
The big problem in this district is Henrico County, about 3/4 of which is in the district. Many years ago, from the 1950s through the 1980s, this was a solid rural and then suburban Republican area. Beginning in earnest in the 1990s and continuing unabated since then, the undesirables of Richmond have been invading and the good people have been fleeing.
Some areas of the county are still OK, but Henrico County is bad now and getting worse. Nearly 2/3 of CD-7 lies within Henrico & Chesterfield counties, the rest is predominantly rural, but Chesterfield is dangerously close to tipping the wrong way; it’s just a few years behind Henrico as far as its demographic deterioration.
D'uh. I was thinking about the constitutional offices. You're both right and I was WRONG.
To bad Gade is running AWAY from Trump.
We’re gonna invite you onto our “Trump can win VA” bandwagon. Right now we’re up to about 5 or 6 of us. Any more and we might need to get a minivan!
If Virginia hadnt gone for George W. Bush in 2000 we would have had President Gore. Then in 2004 they went for Bush again. Red is in their blood.
The fastest way to save VA is to split up fedgov and send the alphabet agencies to the far corners of the empire. They you all can enjoy the bureaucrats and their voting habits and VA can return to deep red.
Gade is probably realizing to late the he should have run towards Trump and not away from Trump like all his NoVa RINO handlers advised him to do.
VA voted for the Republican presidential candidate from 1968 until 2008.
Bob Good in VA-5 is key also.
In the meantime...
Gade Hauls in More Campaign Contributions Than Mark Warner in Q3
I want the president to win, but if he doesnt, I still need to win Virginia, Gade said.
Virginia Senate race sees underdog GOP challenger confident despite uphill battle
I did not realize that retired Army LTC and Dr. Daniel Gade lost his leg fighting in Iraq. [hand salute]
