The French cyber authority has announced that many government ministries, media outlets and financial institutions have been hit by a mysterious attack. In recent days, there has been an escalation in French-Turkish relations.
According to reports published in the last hours of tonight (Sunday), it appears that a major and significant cyber attack has hit France. It is not yet clear the size of the attack and whether it has ended, but it has been reported that many government ministries, media outlets and financial institutions have been affected.
The National Cyber Authority in France issued an official statement in which it reported on the attack, but no information on its source was released.
According to the reports, this is a DDoS attack, in which the attackers created an unusual load on the sites in question, which eventually led to their downfall. It was further reported that the background to the attack is the attack that took place earlier this month in the country and the public publication of the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad after it. It appears that a group of hackers from Bangladesh carried out the attack, which reportedly hit dozens of sites in the country, after they issued a statement of responsibility.
In recent days, there has been a significant escalation in France-Turkey relations, and according to one estimate, the attack may be related to this. Last week, cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad were screened in France, as part of a memorial service for a teacher killed in a terrorist attack a few days earlier. In response, Turkish President Erdogan said of French President Emmanuel Macron that he "needs psychiatric treatment".
In response to the Turkish president's remarks, the French Foreign Ministry ordered the return of the ambassador from Ankara. This action provoked another reaction from Erdogan in which he repeated his statements from the previous time, in which he called Macron "crazy". In addition, a boycott of French products has begun in recent days in Turkey and other Muslim countries, following the screening of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
Hmmm. Bangladesh cyber-attacks France. France has nukes. Just sayin’ it can only go so far.
If you take apart the packets of data you will see between the layers white flags.
