“Cuties” turned out to be ugly for Netflix.
The streaming service has watched subscription cancellations skyrocket by 800% after the French coming-of-age film triggered a boycott in early September, analyses show. Within two days of the movie’s premiere, #CancelNetflix became the top trending topic on Twitter and a petition on Change.org garnered hundreds of thousands of signatures.
Netflix’s chief financial officer Spence Neumann didn’t mention “Cuties” in a third-quarter earnings call this week, instead focusing on the first half of the year, when coronavirus lockdowns nationwide drove subscriptions.
Neumann told investors the company “came pretty close” to meeting its membership goal of 195 million worldwide. For the three months that ended Sept. 30, Netflix added 2.2 million global subscribers — down from the first two quarters of 16 million and 10 million, respectively
But numbers analyzed by New York data analytics firms Antenna and YipitData tell a different story — that the protest, led by conservatives who claim the film’s portrayal of pre-teen girls living in Paris “hyper-sexualized” children, had made a big dent in subscriptions.

Kids are not allowed outside, period. Under 21 and over 65 forbidden to go outside the home since March 15 by government order. Schools closed here with only 16 hours of “lessons” per week for grade 5 and none at all for Kinder-1. Malls and other activities closed. Difficult to obtain travel laws passes needed for any travel. Live right across from several beach resorts. All remain closed due to government edict.
I’m guessing you don’t have kids. And for me to give up my only form of entertainment (sci-fi series) ... right. Sounds like the very dull, boring lifestyle of the old Warsaw Pact or Soviet a Union.

You said it was “BS” not just foolishness. Someone making a factual statement and the response “BS” implies falsity of the statement. It was not false - the Obamas are involved.

We let the HBO new contract just lapse after the lesbian invasion on the new Perry Mason show.
We went to Sling when we cut our cable to watch the 49ers and SF Giants.
After Colon’s B$ we cancelled Sling as soon as the Giants season was over. With the kneeling B$ we didn’t reup our Sling.
