Academic James Lindsay says the ideology beneath the Democrats’ “radical base” is what will dictate policy in a Biden administration whether Joe Biden believes it or not.
Mr Lindsay described himself as a lifelong Democrat but has only recently decided to “unhappily” vote Republican on the basis that Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden is “pandering” to a radical left base.
He said towards the end of the final presidential debate, the former vice president said he wanted to ensure everybody addresses systemic racism.
“This kind of panders to that very radical base, and the thing is; I don’t know how radical the Democratic Party is, I know they’re permissive to this ideology,” Mr Lindsay told Sky News.
“It’s not that the Democratic Party has necessarily become radical itself, it’s that they’re permissive to people who are radical, to a movement which is radical”.
He said this radical element within the party poses a “severe threat” to the American Republic and to the “entire liberal order of western civilisation”.
