How Donald Trump could win the presidency -- and have Kamala Harris as his VP

(CNN) The United States has faced an extraordinary set of challenges in 2020. Foreign election interference, an impeachment trial, a global health pandemic, natural disasters, economic instability, mass protests and civil unrest have plagued the country.

Against this backdrop, President Donald Trump has intensified his rhetoric undermining the electoral process, stating that "the only way we're going to lose this election is if this election is rigged." Add a dose of intense political polarization and a potentially close election and we have a recipe for yet another disaster before the end of the year.

No wonder a majority of Americans do not have confidence the election will be conducted fairly, according to recent polling from NBC/Survey Monkey.

If it’s tied 269 - 269 and the GOP loses the Senate but keeps a majority of state delegations in the House.

Couldn’t he just wait for inauguration and then ask her to step down?

Oh, that is an interesting point.

The House vote for President is by State delegations.

So the House may not be controlled by Pelosi for the Presidency vote.

My assumptions were wrong.

The odds of a tie electoral vote are slim. A certain specific line up of states would be needed to have this happen. Also, assumptions that there are no “faithless” electors would enter the process.

But it is possible.

Joe Biden said things along the same lines. But only Trump gets criticized for it.

Biden says 'chicanery' at polls is the only way he could lose U.S. election

Sorry, but the President cannot fire the Vice President.

They are both Constitutionally-defined positions.

Faithless electors could not affect it with 269-269 unless the faithless elector votes for one of the major candidates to change the outcome of the state votes. It has to be a majority vote, not a plurality, to elect a President. Otherwise the House elects the President. So for example, say there are multiple faithless electors and the vote becomes 269-260-9. The 269 still doesn’t cut it - that is not a majority.

Not likely, but even if it happened not a problem. The VP only has as much power and responsibilities as the president allows. Other than having to be president of the senate as required, he could ensure she quarantines in the VP mansion to keep her from COVID.

...an impeachment trial [...] have plagued the country.

So is CNN admitting that the impeachment trial, fomented and ran by Dems, was a plague? Seems like it to me...

I love to watch the left slowly lose their minds.

Their cardboard cutouts this morning should tell all their supporters what kind of morons they have backed. Cardboard cutouts at a senate committee meeting. They are petulant children. Worse. They are deranged petulant children. Pelosi and Schumer orchestrated this and should be made to suffer for it.

It’s not a Lincoln-Johnson situation; it’s more like an Adams-Jefferson situation. Of course after A-J came the 12th amendment making the scenario less likely.

If Trump wins with a fairly narrow margin in the Electoral College, it might be wise for us to expect maximum pressure on Trump electors to become faithless. Not all of them of course, just enough to make the required difference, so the Democrat terrorists and their media allies will focus on the weakest electors. It would be naïve to think that plans aren't already underway.
