Is there anything less shocking than MSNBC analyst Michael Steele endorsing Biden for president? In August, the former Republican Party chairman joined the so-called Lincoln Project.
But on Tuesday's Morning Joe, they came out of a commercial break and aired a kooky Lincoln Project commercial (gratis?) that explicitly compared Biden to Abraham Lincoln, and compared Trump's supposed refusal to concede power to.... a Lincoln assassination plot?
STEELE: Imagine that night. Tensions high. A nation torn apart. A plot here in Baltimore City to assassinate a newly-elected president on his way to inauguration. And to plunge the country into chaos. Abraham Lincoln disembarked at this train station, and under pre-dawn skies made his way unscathed and on to greatness. In the days ahead, we may face a crisis of similar proportion: an outlaw president defying the will of the people."

It was a major mistake - he left the place in total shambles. Our success in the 2010 elections was totally organic - the RNC was pretty much absent. As well as the GOP did, it could have been much better.

But conveniently, a group of former top government officials called the Transition Integrity Project actually gamed four possible scenarios, including one that doesn’t look that different from 2016: a big popular win for Mr. Biden, and a narrow electoral defeat, presumably reached after weeks of counting the votes in Pennsylvania. For their war game, they cast John Podesta, who was Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, in the role of Mr. Biden. They expected him, when the votes came in, to concede, just as Mrs. Clinton had.
But Mr. Podesta, playing Mr. Biden, shocked the organizers by saying he felt his party wouldn’t let him concede. Alleging voter suppression, he persuaded the governors of Wisconsin and Michigan to send pro-Biden electors to the Electoral College.
In that scenario, California, Oregon, and Washington then threatened to secede from the United States if Mr. Trump took office as planned. The House named Mr. Biden president; the Senate and White House stuck with Mr. Trump. At that point in the scenario, the nation stopped looking to the media for cues, and waited to see what the military would do.

They included Michael Steele, a former chair of the Republican National Committee; John Podesta, the former White House chief of staff who chaired Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign; former Republican members of Congress; and a host of former elected officials, government staffers, consultants, and even journalists.

The Transition Integrity Project (TIP) is a bipartisan group of political operatives, academics and former government officials formed in 2019 out of concerns around possible manipulation and disruption of the 2020 United States presidential election and transition.[1][2][3][4]
Members of the group include Rosa Brooks, a professor of constitutional and international law and national security at the Georgetown University Law Center; Michael Steele, a former chair of the Republican National Committee; John Podesta, former White House Chief of Staff to former President of the United States Bill Clinton; and journalist David Frum.[5]
In June, TIP organized a meeting of 100 “former high-ranking government officials, senior political campaigners, nationally prominent journalists and communications professionals, social movement leaders, and experts on politics, national security, democratic reform, election law, and media.” The project originally kept the names of the 100 secret, but about 40 have now agreed to be publicly identified. (The rest remain anonymous.) Among the publicly known names are some of the most ardently anti-Trump voices in media and politics. Norm Eisen, who served as outside counsel for the House Judiciary Committee during impeachment, is part of the group, as is John Podesta, the former Hillary Clinton campaign chair who played key roles in the Obama and Bill Clinton White Houses, and former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile. There is former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, now seen denouncing the president on cable TV, and another former governor whose name remains secret. To make the group bipartisan, there are several members from Never Trump Republican and former Republican ranks: Reed Galen, a key organizer of the anti-Trump Lincoln Project, Bill Kristol, Max Boot, David Frum, and others.
