Charles A. Murray 65 spoke to Harvard affiliates at a Friday webinar about his new book, which criticizes the idea that race and gender are social constructs. Faculty in attendance criticized his work, saying it makes unfounded claims and is rooted in flawed methodology.
Government preceptor David D. Kane invited Murray whose work the Southern Poverty Law Center terms racist pseudoscience to speak about his 2020 book Human Diversity: The Biology of Gender, Race, and Class as part of a lecture series entitled Data Scientists, Data Professionals, Data Dissidents.
Murray said during the talk that many of Harvards social science and humanities faculty are outdated in their belief that race is a social construct.
We know that the allele frequencies for different population groups on traits are quite different, he said. And the chance that once we untangle the effects of these, that theyll balance out to zero, is statistically just about impossible.
Sociology professor Mary C. Waters, who attended the webinar, criticized Murrays research, writing in an email that he frequently committed the elementary error of confusing correlation with causation throughout his talk.
Murray's performance was embarrassing and certainly does not reflect excellence in data science or social science, she wrote. His work is very weak. He cherry picks data and studies that suit his desired conclusions and he does not seem to understand the issues he writes about.

In the more recent Human Diversity, Murray critiques the social science orthodoxy that gender and race are social constructs and that class is a function of privilege. He presents ten counter-propositions, including claims that there are real differences in personality between the sexes, that there are genetic distinctions corresponding to self-identified race and ethnicity, and that class structure has a significant basis in genetic differences.

Those are products (outputs) of a culture.
What produces them?
What makes one culture more successful, richer, more peaceful, than another... ie, produce better “products”?
“our universities have become institutionally committed to a lie, and truth seekers are driven underground or purged.”
Not just one lie—thousands of them—in a variety of different fields of study.
One hundred years from now—if homo sapiens survive—the standard doctrines taught in universities today will be laughed at by all serious people.
The old saying is that the way science advances is when the old scientists die.
Instead of presenting questions to which you think you already have answers, you should just state your answers to your own questions. I am sure many people will even agree with you.
I wish I was as good as “she” is.
Anyone could be Nancy Morris.
…are YOU Nancy Morris?
I think post modernists link social constructs to things that society can change, like customs or language. These are created in societies for convenience.
Biological facts cannot be changed so while names of biological things can change, the things themselves cannot.
Naming a thing does not change its nature.
For a long time, Universities have depended on revenue from research grants, which means that their research is NOT ALLOWED TO offend the grant committees, federal and otherwise.
The fastest way to get cut off from federal funds is to have research findings which contradict the Woke narrative.
Some decades ago, the Minnesota Transracial Adoption Study was done. They studied black kids adopted by white middle-class families in infancy. Testing their IQs at 17.
Want to guess the results?
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/6872626/
The black adopted kids, raised in white middle class families, sent to white middle class schools, all their lives, averaged an IQ of 89.
White adopted kids: 106.
Biological kids of the adopting couples: 109.
To my knowledge, no further similar studies were ever done.
Middle-class blacks have higher IQ than underclass blacks, because you need a higher IQ to BECOME middle-class.
But underclass blacks seem to have more kids, so what does that do to the average IQ?

No, for postmodernism there is no such thing as reality, everything is man made and thus subject to his whims.
From Encyclopedia Britannica...
“Many postmodernists hold one or more of the following views:
(1) there is no objective reality;
(2) there is no scientific or historical truth (objective truth);
(3) science and technology (and even reason and logic) are not vehicles of human progress but suspect instruments of established power;
(4) reason and logic are not universally valid;
(5) there is no such thing as human nature (human behavior and psychology are socially determined or constructed);
(6) language does not refer to a reality outside itself;
(7) there is no certain knowledge; and
(8) no general theory of the natural or social world can be valid or true (all are illegitimate “metanarratives”).”
The postmodernists have one more belief not listed:
—They want to create their own reality where they rule and everybody else drools.
The difficulty I have with group differences whether they have biological roots or reflect primarily social constructs is their use as explanatory variables for identified individual differences. For example, on average men are taller and stronger than women. Why? The answer logical cannot be answered by saying men are taller and stronger than women. A deeper explanation is needed especially if you want to increase the height and strength of those who are currently short and weak.
“A deeper explanation is needed especially if you want to increase the height and strength of those who are currently short and weak.”
It’s the genes. They dictate everything about us.
As our knowledge of them and skill for manipulating them increases we’ll be able to play God.
And then... welcome to Brave New World!
