But what I don’t understand is how they thought that would hurt Trump.

increase covid death count ... increase panic ... more reason to shut down a booming economy ...

As I said, your opinion? I worry little about one’s opinion of my formatting, because my aim is to make it look like a blog. It does, but instead of luring people away from FR, I do so using what FR offers.

I am confident in my writing skills, and that is all that matters to me.

I like my formatting, and I enjoy using a skill that is fading quickly. HTML.

I also figure, maybe someone will ask for help to design their profile, and thus they can then give it their own twist to personalize it.

We can turn FR into quite a unique forum compared to, and stop the ridicule of bloggers by fellow Freepers at the same time.

There are many Freepers who have great minds and would like to share their well thought out well written articles, but they are scared away by other Freepers who attack them for daring to post from a blog by claiming all they want is hits to their site.

Well, this should make them less agitated when they read something that isn’t written by a liberal writer from the Times or the Post, or other liberal sites. IF, that is truly their problem, because by visiting their Profile blog, FreeRepublic is getting the hits. Not a Google blog.

Maybe my idea, regardless of how quirky my formatting is, could actually be the motivation some Freeper to become the next conservative mind that writes great articles.

After all, we need more conservative writers.

This is an excellent piece. You should try to submit it for publication somewhere.

My mother died in the winter of 2010 of pneumonia. She tested negative for the flu, but I wonder if the tests were flawed back then and there were many false negatives just like there are many false positives with tests now.

I don’t remember there being all that much in the news about a bad flu then or an abundance of public service announcements, but I was going through a rough time at my job and might have been distracted by it.

I can’t help wondering if there had been the appropriate focus in the media about the flu then that we might have handled it better, been more vigilant, taken better precautions, etc., and lives would have been saved.

You are assigning intent where there was simply incompetence.

Most of the nursing facilities where this stuff happened did not follow their emergency pandemic plans. In fact, in many cases those plans were sitting on shelf in a back room—where no administrator even knew they existed.

These places are run by administrators who are, mostly, idiots and accountants who only care about keeping the Medicaid money flowing.

In most cases, the nursing staff was screaming from the rooftops about the incompetence.

It is easy to blame to politicians. For most of the deaths in the first month or so, the blame should be placed at the feet of the administrators.

Did you know that every one of these facilities is REQUIRED to maintain an emergency store of 28 days worth of PPE. This in addition to the normal warehouse stores. MOST hospitals and nursing facilities “dip” into these during the “declared” influenza emergency every year. Their accountants are fine with this because it happens every year, the emergency allows them to do it, and they can “re-fill” the emergency stores after the end of the first quarter.

Except this year, they couldn’t get the product after February.

The hospitals were negligent. The administrators were negligent. The Nursing home administrators were criminally negligent.

I used to spend many hours a week updating those emergency response plans for a decent sized hospital. I left last year. Our Emergency Manager left last year. I met up with them around Valentines Day and we had a dark chuckle about how much stock they had eaten into...and what was left was probably expired.

Our chuckles were right on target. And sadly so.

Just curious....

How many people in nursing home memory care units are “diagnosed” with “confirmed alzhiemers?”

Because that can only be positively diagnosed at autopsy.

And, many folks diagnosed with early or mid staged dementia can be pretty cogent right up to the end.

Having gone through this six times as the POA or Guardian, I can assure you that ALL six knew who I was, knew where they were, and could tell you who was President up until the last week they were alive.

While I am not a clinician, I probably have more clinical experience with dementia than most first year residents.

A lot of people “think” they know about it...they know their singular experience. Unless its been in your home—for years—multiple times...you probably don’t have a broad understanding.

To willingly conspire and commit this heinous act, all for a political advantage in an election, cannot be overlooked and never ever forgotten.

You left out one thing. It can not, and it should not, be forgiven.

I want retribution. I believe that because this was 100% planned with deliberate malice that the punishment for the perpetrators of this (genocide?) should match the crime.

Thanks for your compliment.

I gave up on getting anything I write posted to places. I wrote for a few,. but was always limited in my opinionated ways. I write for a Christian site, and they say I get too political, I write for a political site and I’m too Religious. I write of a regular news site, and I am too political AND too religious.

I’ll take this route and see where it leads.

I agree on your thoughts, I often think the same thing.

Design is not your forte. Stick to writing. Hell, it isnt mine either. My page looks tacky too. My only point was your design choices are horrid. Don’t ever do page design. It lessens the impact of your quality writing in making it look like a joke. The topic and writing are quality and would have 10 times the impact without the horrid design choices.

Let me put it this way. I am in tech and run some spam filters. Your design would score in the 100’s where score < 5 is a standard score for passing the spam filter. Were someone to copy and paste your post into an email to send to someone it would be with 100% certainty be flagged as spam. The score would be so high it would require the sender to be on the whitelist to pass.

It was a directive by the Governors. It was intentional, and the result was expected.

You do not send a child to day care if that child has Chicken Pox. Unless you want every child there to get infected. Same with a flu that was deemed to be as deadly as this was. Well, thank God this Chinese bug wasn’t as bad, but all flus are deadly to the elderly, ALL FLUS! And they know that.

It is common sense, and they knew very well what they were doing.

I know Democrats, and especially today’s totalitarian minded Communist Democrats, who do everything with a calculation as to how it will politically benefit them.

So go ahead and attribute good intentions to them. You do so at your own peril.

Every Democrat in this country should be locked up in jail for violating every citizens constitutional rights.

No, I do not trust any Democrat.

Your choice of colors and the silly text box is garish. It looks like a Nigerian prince wrote this posting. Your access to colors should be permanently pulled.

The content of the post is descent but good God, man, it looks like the mens room of a Mexican restaurant.

Looks good to me, but since I'm color blind, my vote probably shouldn't be given too much credence.

BTW, since I'm color blind, how can I be a racisssss?

I have more experience than you think. I have seen both problems come on slowly in my times working at nursing homes and serving as a Pastor.

I cannot medically diagnose them, but there are signs.

Yes they remember things, some times, but they have those moments where they are clueless.

As time goes on, they are completely robots doing what they are physically led to do.

A woman of 73 at this home I worked at, has alzheimers and she has to be led around and do as she was told as if she is completely controlled by the care giver.

She eats when told, she walks around aimlessly, she will even be allowed one cigarette a day, because she always smoked. She will take a few drags then put it down and forget about it. They do what they can to make her life seem normal, but in fact she is not there mentally.

She got that way slowly, but you could tell when it started, and knew where it was leading.

I had an Alzheimers patient who was led into the sermon, and she sat their staring an looking around, but once the songs began, she sang the song word for word and in perfect harmony as if she was 20 years old. Once the songs stopped she gone again.

Have you tried the color blind glasses? Prices have come down dramatically. $350 or so and you can have a descent looking pair. Thinking about getting my color blind Dad a pair for Xmas. After 55 years of marriage my Mom may finally allow him to finally dress himself.... ;-P

Whoa now! I take issue that you made a comparison of the colors to a Thai whorehouse. I’ll have you know that you really can’t see much color in a Thai whorehouse as they are generally pretty dark and hard to see much. Um, er....that’s what a friend told me.
