The spouse likes the big family traditional meal. I quit caring years ago. A properly supreme topped pizza or a double cheeseburger and fries suits me.
Since the (not me) paranoia about the scam-demic, some kind of compromise at home.

My aunt and uncle have a great little spread just above the city. I love the place.
They do say that a person can choose their friends but not those who insist on identifying as family members.
I had a Covid 19 test on Monday. I had a negative result 48 hours later. I agree there is no reson to not have a T Day dinner. If anyone is worried then do not go .
The most terrifying aspect of Covid is that fact that it is a political event, and if you get it, people WANT you to die.

We’ve had family and friends over the entire summer — we have a pool and 3 grills — it’s the place where everyone gathers. Not afraid to have out typical Thanksgiving — I think this is just another try at killing the economy. Lots of money goes into buying those bog turkeys and all the fixins’, and then crazy shopping the next day!
Sweden protected those at risk (the elderly and those with morbities that made them at risk) and they did it right. Sweden had a death rate much above the rest of Europe at first. The young in Sweden whom due to great immune systems caught the disease and most did not even know it. They became herd immunity. Today Sweden is just about in the middle of death by Corona as compared with the rest of Europe. However, their present death rate is much lower than the rest of Europe today. Sweden has probably achieved herd immunity.
It should also be noted that Norway and Denmark have currently a much lower rate of death than Sweden. They have not achieved herd immunity yet as Sweden. Norway and Denmark are still in severe lock down. In the end the death rate in Sweden will probably be the lowest in Europe.
It is simply a function of statistics. If all that are not in danger of covid death (60 years or less) catch the disease then no longer become a vector for the disease in 14 days. When the contagion factor <RO) become less than one the disease dies. Oddly I wish all young to catch the disease. Do to their great immune systems they are in little danger. The more that catch the disease and survive (the young always survive) is what kills the disease due to herd immunity.

Burning and looting in the street is still cool though? But maybe we can see family in like 2022 or 23?
I was sick of pretending this sh*t was the black death 6 months ago. Would be over with herd immunity by now.
Oh gosh I’m sorry! Sounds like a nice dinner alone with be more peaceful and festive than that! Maybe you can find a few friends to celebrate with. That might be fun!
