"In each of these cases, Barr overruled career prosecutors in order to assist the president’s associates and/or friends, who potentially harbor incriminating information."

Yes, SDNY prosecutors are on a mission to take out Trump. They went after anyone associated with Trump to force them to testify against him. When Bharara refused to submit his resignation upon Trump's election, they began running a "Shadow DOJ", and are still doing it today. Barr has only intervened in a few of the most egregious witch hunts, but SDNY thinks they are ABOVE the DOJ. Sessions allowed them unlimited power, while Barr merely gives them a long leash.

I had to look “boiled rope” up to find what you meant.

If it were up to me, politicians and lawyers condemned to death by hanging, would be given a short rope thus having as long as 45 minutes to think about what is happening and hear the laughter of the crowds.

For execution by this method, the inmate may be weighed the day before the execution, and a rehearsal is done using a sandbag of the same weight as the prisoner. This is to determine the length of ‘drop’ necessary to ensure a quick death. If the rope is too long, the inmate could be decapitated, and if it is too short, the strangulation could take as long as 45 minutes. The rope, which should be 3/4-inch to 1 1/4-inch in diameter, must be boiled and stretched to eliminate spring or coiling. The knot should be lubricated with wax or soap “to ensure a smooth sliding action,” according to the 1969 U.S. Army manual. (The Corrections Professional, 1996 and Hillman, 1992)

Immediately before the execution, the prisoner’s hands and legs are secured, he or she is blindfolded, and the noose is placed around the neck, with the knot behind the left ear. The execution takes place when a trap-door is opened and the prisoner falls through. The prisoner’s weight should cause a rapid fracture-dislocation of the neck. However, instantaneous death rarely occurs. (Weisberg, 1991)

If the inmate has strong neck muscles, is very light, if the ‘drop’ is too short, or the noose has been wrongly positioned, the fracture-dislocation is not rapid and death results from slow asphyxiation. If this occurs the face becomes engorged, the tongue protrudes, the eyes pop, the body defecates, and violent movements of the limbs occur. (The Corrections Professional, 1996 and Weisberg, 1991)

Rather than representing the interests of the American public, Barr chooses to act as Trump’s lap dog.

Eric Holder: 'I'm still the president's wingman'

Holder: "I’m still the President’s wing-man, so I’m there with my boy."

I'm guessing Mr. Halpern wasn't bothered by this.

The DOJ and FBI are hopelessly corrupt. Barr hasn’t even scratched the surface. They drag their feet when courts or Congress order them to release information. They redact documents to the point where it’s utterly ridiculous. They are thumbing their noses at US citizens. The author of this article is leaving the FBI. Good riddance. We need about 10,000 more like him to leave.

This career bureaucrat seems determined to turn our democracy into an autocracy

And after 36 years in government you too are a bureaucrat -now enjoying a well-paid tax payer retirement. And if the punishment meted out for Democrats breaking of Federal laws is any indication, its already a autocracy. And by the way Mr Sanctimonious, we have a Republic not a democracy.

Nice pearl clutching statement. If this guy could have worked with Janet Reno, Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch and held his lunch down... then anything Barr has done/fail-to-do is small beans.

Now, if you want to argue that Barr should have done more to go after the Swamp? I’m right there with you!

"After 36 years, I’m fleeing what was the U.S. Department of Justice"

Calling BS. He couldn't wait 3 weeks to see if there would be a new administration with a new Attorney General? This is planned retirement with a huge whine
