A 45-year-old British man has lost his hearing in one ear after catching the coronavirus prompting experts to warn that the deadly bug may cause permanent deafness among some patients, according to reports. The man whose only underlying medical condition was asthma was referred to an otolaryngologist when he experienced the hearing loss after being treated for COVID-19 at a hospital, The Sun reported. His condition had deteriorated after spending about a month on a ventilator but improved when treated with remdesivir, steroids and a blood transfusion, according to the news outlet.

This wouldn’t happen to be the ear on the side where his wife sits, would it?
I lost most of my hearing in my right ear. I told my wife it was because she sits on my right in the car.
and the fight began.
Fevers will do that.;
My brother is deaf in one ear from a case of the measles in 1959.
And how often does this occur with other viruses?
Article does not say. And I suspect the answer is not 0.00000%.
Is this the first such complaint? Does that mean that we now have to worry about a one-in-a-million chance of going deaf in one ear?
Big deal!
Regards,
Gonna file that right next to: Man reportedly gets in a car crash after eating carrots.
LOL!
Ive suffered from that particular affliction.
Oh, NOOOOEEE.... WERE ALL GONNA BE DEAF!
I understand that if lightning hits you in the foot, your zipper gets welded shut.
Son: “I hate repeating myself for no reason!”
Pause.
Me: “What?”
Son: “I hate repeating myself for no rea...” notices my grin. “DAD!”
Tragic. But so what? All kinds of bad things happen when you get sick. Do you really want to panic people with another fear? Does it make your private parts fall off?
That's not funny, you do know that everyone who has ever eaten carrots dies, don't you!
Lost much of my hearing in the late 60’s due to a reaction to antivenin. The rest was lost while serving with the 502 during Vietnam, field artillery plays hell on the hearing.
I had a nasty 3 day fever (not covid) and my olfactory, taste, and hearing senses were improved following recovery.
It’s a weird virus.
When I was sick with it, I noticed that any point where my skin would touch clothing, such as a T-shirt, would become slightly sore to the touch for a couple of days. The weirdest thing for me was when I regained my sense of taste & smell, some of the things I used to really like the taste of, I just didn’t care for anymore. Other things, all of a sudden, tasted great. However, it’s now been over for two weeks, and even that has returned to normal. I don’t recall ever having any hearing deterioration issues at all.
I hadnt heard this news
Headline: Man has cold and Sinuses and Eustachian tubes become blocked or possibly damaged.
Shut down the economy!!
I suppose the upside is that we’ll never have to listen to Fauci again.
