Once again it appears there are conflicting facts, data and plenty of opinions about the efficacy of wearing masks to prevent contracting the Coronavirus.
In addition to causing maskne and skin infections on the face and around the mouth, persistent coughing, mask mouth, and respiratory illnesses including lung infections, it turns out that most everyone infected with COVID-19 always wore masks, according to a newly published study by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
The study found 74.2% reported wearing masks always while 14.5% worse masks often.
It is difficult not to conclude that wearing non-surgical cloth face masks or face coverings does little to prevent contracting the coronavirus.

Hardly surprising.
Masks are designed to be put on without touching them, left untouched when worn, and carefully removed and disposed of after a single use. The number of people following this protocol when in public is basically zero.
As used by the general public, all masks do is collect and concentrate any stray virus particles you do encounter, and keep you exposed to them longer.
Some people lie, particularly when getting caught doing something that they shouldn't have done. (Speeding, discussing Burisma with your son, getting BJs from an intern in the Oval Office.)
But assuming 100% truthfulness, it still looks like masks lower the odds of contracting Covid-19 somewhat.
(I'd have to say "sometimes" personally (like only 4.4% of the controls). I wear a mask where it's required. I don't wear a mask at home (where I work), while driving my car or outside when doing my daily 5K at the beach. I'm pretty sure that more than 25% of people I see walking at the beach wear masks. I don't get it, but my state is full of crazy people.)
Its the old problem of self reporting which lends to unreliable data in any study. Did they ask participants in the study how many people wore masks around them? Because its been pretty clear in research Ive read that masks are more about protecting the other person from catching it from you, more than vice versa.
I don't know. I see idiots out on the trails in the middle of the woods with masks. I see idiots driving by themselves wearing masks in their cars. Do they wear them in their homes? Taking showers? Taking a dump? You know that whole 6 foot plume of corona feces fumes they were scaremongering about a few months ago... And do you think these same morons are somehow NOT following the CA governors command to wear it between bites? Of course they're wearing them like scared little sheep.
50% of the American population is of below average intelligence, and they vote dem and wear masks.
I only wear a mask when entering a business that requests it. I have the option of not going in to that business if I so choose.
This is no different than my stance on smoking in a business. If a business chose to allow smokers, you had the option of not spending money there.
When my kids were little and smelled smoke, I told them what youre smelling is freedom.
What if wearing a mask causes the virus? Touching your face is a major transmission vehicle.
You see the easily-led wearing masks in their own vehicles, traveling alone, wearing masks. I see that all the time.
I know 2 people locally that died from the virus (we are a small community). Both in their 80’s, with diabetes.
The fact of the matter is, these people who “always” wear a mask in public, probably don’t count church, hanging with their friends, and other similar situations as “public”. The fact is that until they model someone with coronavirus in a room full of people 6 feet apart for 30 60 90 minutes, while all wearing masks, we will never know exactly the true effectiveness of masks.
All I can say is, I have to wear a mask all day every day for my job. And wash my hands obsessionally . And use hand sanitizer. There are plastic screens that separate me from customers. Nevertheless I have a head cold. So what does that tell you about the efficacy of masks.
“”Nevertheless I have a head cold. So what does that tell you about the efficacy of masks.””
Maybe your head cold was caused by wearing the mask daily.
Exactly!
Well the “fact” is I live it.. now you are right.. it might not occur everywhere, but if occurs at the church I go to, in the state I am in, and the “fact” that people like YOU exist.. I’m pretty spot on.
So, the real fact is, you were just misrepresenting the facts from the report.
If masks “protect others” - these “others” were not protected.
Just how many “mosquitoes” do these “chain link” cloth face diapers prevent from passing through in either direction?
Self report, unfortunately, is too often used in studies and as John Ray has found...liberals too often lie.
Yes, well, do what you want.
Ive read enough studies worldwide, including pre-COVID, to convince me otherwise.
No I was stating the facts as it relates to my life. Nothing I said wasn’t true.. therefore it’s a fact. My opinion is that is what is going on throughout the country, especially in states where anti masking is likely.
Your denial of the obvious is hilarious.
All that this means is that the proportion of those who do and don’t wear masks is around the same as the proportions of those who end up needing critical care in the hospital, and thus we don’t have a significant statistical difference being made.
Eyes, mouth and nose all entry points for germs. Press it against your nose or inhale for long enough with the nose and/or mouth covered, and you inhale caught embedded virus back in.
It didn’t make a significant difference. The numbers of people who got the virus are around the same proportions of people who do and do not wear masks.
