Trump, Barr at odds over slow pace of Durham investigation
Associated Press ^ | October 9, 2020 | Michael Balsamo, Zeke Miller and Eric Tucker

Posted on 10/08/2020 11:06:55 PM PDT by Olog-hai

President Donald Trump is increasingly at odds with Attorney General William Barr over the status of the Justice Department’s investigation into the origin of the Russia probe, with the president increasingly critical about a lack of arrests and Barr frustrated by Trump’s public pronouncements about the case, according to people familiar with the matter.

Trump and his allies had high hopes for the investigation led by Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham, betting it would expose what they see as wrongdoing when the FBI opened a case into whether the Trump campaign was coordinating with Russia to sway the 2016 election. Trump has also pushed to tie prominent Obama administration officials to that effort as part of his campaign against Joe Biden, who was serving as vice president at the time.

But a year and a half into the investigation, and with less than one month until Election Day, there has been only one criminal case: a former FBI lawyer who pleaded guilty to altering a government email about a former Trump campaign adviser who was a target of secret FBI surveillance.

With time running out for pre-election action on the case, Trump is increasingly airing his dissatisfaction in tweets and television appearances. Barr, meanwhile, has privately expressed frustration over the public comments, according to a person familiar with his thinking. […]

This account is based on interviews with six people who have direct knowledge of Trump and Barr’s relationship. They were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. …

Makes me wonder what Barr’s “different interests” could be. He claimed to be concerned with the rule of law in an interview not too long ago, but he sure is not putting that into practice; Trump seems far more concerned with rule of law than Barr at this point.

Preventing a war?

Blue states, on the coast, could set up a blockade that interferes with trade to/from red states. We could worry less about that if we were more autarkic, but that would virtually invite foreign powers into those blue states that border the red ones. Would be a war then, but not a civil war.

There is zero chance of avoiding war. I wish there were- but I honestly can’t imagine any way out of it now. The Left has gone full Communist.

It’s time.

How many more years you think they need?

This is a strategy, run out the clock.

The blue states aren't interested in keeping the red states in the union. The red states would be industrially self sufficient over time. They only hostility will be quelling any internal city boy strife.

Federal Prosecutions follow a pattern.

This pattern says they’re not interested.

Remember Imran Awan?

They just weren’t interested in him from the beginning.

No, war sucks. A secession is the only option. Cooler heads can and should prevail. If a “Conservative” lives in a blue state then GTH out. We don’t need to die because they are too lazy to move.

I’ve taken a scientific survey. The results are in. Those Freepers that live in blue states always want to jump into civil war. OTH those living in red states want a peaceful separation fro the USA, like a secession. I WONDER WHY?

Yeah it does. I’ve fought in two, Infantry. Secession is the GOPe way of reaching across the aisle to get along. I don’t care about appeasing them any longer, Neville.

F that. Done with the pussy way. The tree is thirsty, and it’s time. Sorry.

This is the last election in peacetime if we lose. Grow up, and get ready. Buy ammo for what you have, draw up range cards to defend your home. This ain’t gonna be pretty - or maybe you haven’t been paying attention to how the Left has been rehearsing? These riots are nothing more than advanced training and rehearsals to work out the kinks in communications on the front lines.

Civilians are effing clueless. It’s coming.

Prepare.

Or write a good will to help your family.

Sorry I can’t subscribe to your optimism after watching the last few years.

In fairness to Durham, he was assigned the investigation a little over year ago. Given the extent and complexity of his task, Durham does not seem dilatory.

If you care about whether something is fake news, then you need to ignore AP pieces with sources such as...

...according to people familiar with the matter.
...according to a person familiar with his thinking.
...based on interviews with six people who have direct knowledge of Trump and Barr’s relationship.

Just sayin’

If you don’t care if it’s fake news... then knock yourself out.

trump should demand all papers on his desk tomorrow and release 1/20 of it every day until there is no more.

I’m pissed off if I’m Trump. 3-4 years of almost instantaneous lawsuits, civil actions, criminal cases against members in his circle, a damned impeachment, and for all that nonsense and overwhelming evidence of misconduct Durham and Barr are like snails on quaaludes. Shit, there was a mega-criminal case against Bannon thrown together over wall funding in no time.

Barr, Durham, Huber, etc need to get their suspects in before a sitting grand jury NOW before it either expires or is prevented by weak Republicans.

I don’t care if they start with the low-hanging fruit suspects, as long as they are hanging, or committing perjury. Enough evidence of that.

I could put Brennan and the rest of the Deep State traitors though a grand jury proceeding that would leave their balls, ponytails, and grins lying on the floor in a pool of blood and crap.

Not hard to do if you have the documents/facts and know what questions to ask them before the grand jury. Perjury is enough to stop these bastards and any future career in or near the government, plus possible jail time for contempt, fines, loss of government security clearances, a freeze on pensions (re time during the conspiracy), phones, computers, etc.

Either you hit them hard or let them walk. NOW is the only time between tomorrow and Jan. 20th that this can take place.
Precedent for doing this is Susan Rice’s “Do it by the books” backdated memo on Jan. 20th, 2017. If she can do something on the last day, so can we. It only takes a few moments to tie a hangman’s knot or send perjury/contempt citations to a judge/court for adjudication.
