Reporters closely following President Trumps campaign said he is looking to host an event in Pittsburgh early next week.
Maggie Haberman, a White House correspondent with the New York Times, tweeted the campaign was exploring the possibility of holding an event, but not a rally, citing three people familiar with the planning.
TRUMP campaign is exploring having him hold an event (not a rally) in Pittsburgh on Monday, per 3 ppl familiar with the discussions. They're setting up possible travel plans for him all week, with later in the week seeming more solid. Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) October 7, 2020
NBC News political reporter Monica Alba confirmed this, saying Trump is eager to get back on the campaign trail, although it is unclear when he will be medically cleared to travel.
Confirming @maggieNYT: the president is eager to get back on the trail & his campaign is trying to figure out how to make that work, per a person familiar with the planning. Unclear when physicians will clear him to travel but Trump wants to be on road before/after Miami debate. https://t.co/TK9A9zgMLI Monica Alba (@albamonica) October 8, 2020
Trump has been quarantining but attempting to work after he tested positive for COVID-19 last week. He was hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center for three days but returned to the White House on Monday.
Early reactions to the plan have been critical, with Pittsburgh Mayor tweeting that he believed people with COVID-19 had to quaratine for 14 days.
I thought those who even were in the presence of COVID-19 are to quarantine for 14 days? One sure way that Pittsburghs residents can be heard...

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald replied with a Thanks but no thanks.
Thanks but no thanks.
After a spike this summer, we are doing very well on stopping the spread of #COVID19.
We won't jeopardize that success & I hope the *President of the United States* would never deliberately try to do so. https://t.co/rhSLSrrnSV Rich Fitzgerald (@votefitz) October 8, 2020
While guidelines have changed since the start of the pandemic, the Center for Disease Controls current baseline recommendations are that someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 can be around others after:
10 days since symptoms first appeared and 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving
The CDC notes that loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recover and should not be a factor on when to end isolation.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
It might not be planned as a rally, but it will turn into one!
Cramming one down the pieholes of the Democrats mentioned would be a bonus. Go Trump!
Yup...the press dutifully reporting the “guidelines” and “recommendations” of the Chinese Disinformation Center (CDC) which, last I checked, were hardly the law of the Medes and Persians.
Stick it to the Fearbros!
He’s between a rock and a hard place.
The election is <30 days away.
But I believe he further harms his electoral chances if he does not observe a 10 days quarantine after symptoms are gone.
And that’s all critical campaign time.
Critical.
If even one persons comes down with the sniffles that can be directly attributed to proximity to POTUS outside the White House, it will preclude his reelection.
I’m just the messenger.
The central strategy should be to constantly dangle normal life in front of the masked, locked-down multitudes. Thats what Trump is doing, and now that he has the added credibility of surviving the virus and coming out strong on the other end, it only reinforces his message. Let the voters see people living the way they wish they could, and see if they will actually choose indefinite incarceration and subjugation over freedom.
I surprised the president has not scheduled any virtual rallies....
It’s 10 days after the onset of the virus and I think fever free for 24 hrs. His Doctors will not let him go out if he is not clear even the CDC says after 10 days you can be around people.
The media will faint if Trump has an event.
Horse hockey.
You probably didn’t see Trump’s video message. He’s offering the same treatment he got to anyone who is sick. For free. The Democrats don’t have an answer for that.
PDJT has no choice. He must get back on the campaign trail asap; his most effective weapon is the enthusiasm generated by his peaceful protests/rallies.
As long as he remains symptom free and feels strong enough, he ought to forge ahead.
What worries me tonight is the fact that Mike Pence has an apparent serious case of pink eye, which is one of the signs of Covid-19. I just pray that we aren’t hit by the news later today that he and perhaps wife Karen are tested positive, forcing them to the sidelines as well.
Pence is scheduled for rallies later today in Nevada and Arizona as well as Florida rallies this weekend. Losing our top surrogate would be surreal, adding to the long list of those in MAGA land stricken with this plague.
Much like the Biden “rally” in Gettysburg turned into a Trump Fest.
Oddly enough, I, who have never had pink eye in my life, did have it for a few days when this crap all started.
No other symptoms at all.
/taking bids for vials of my awesome super blood
:D
So says Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald
You do an excellent job of showing us the faces of “people” who we would NEVER want in control of our lives, let alone be our neighbors.
Unreal how the ugly inside oozes to the outside.
