Fox News’ Chris Wallace says he's “sad” about how the presidential debate he moderated Tuesday night turned out and that he never dreamt that it would “go off the tracks the way it did,” in a phone interview with The New York Times.
The 90-minute debate between President Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden began and ended with the candidates interpreting and talking over each other – at times with harsh words.
Trump said Biden was not "smart.” Biden called Trump a “clown" and asked him to “shut up.”
“I’m just sad with the way last night turned out,” Wallace told The Times, in the first interview that the “Fox News Sunday” anchor gave after the debate. “I’ve read some of the reviews. I know people think, well, gee, I didn’t jump in soon enough.”
Wallace seemed to put much of the blame on Trump.
“I guess I didn’t realize – and there was no way you could, hindsight being 20/20 – that this was going to be the president’s strategy, not just for the beginning of the debate but the entire debate,” he said in the interview.
He also called the debate a “terrible missed opportunity” and said, “I never dreamt that it would go off the tracks the way it did.”

The doddering Biden's command of the English language is primitive to say the least.
Out-debated by Trump..... he resorted to calling Trump a “clown, a liar, and a racist".
Outrageously, Biden dared to berate a sitting president, telling Trump to “shut up, man.”
CONCLUSION Biden's been in govt 47 years......he's way past his expiration date.

He disgraced himself and his ‘profession’...Given his openly Liberal politics, his first mistake was to NOT recuse himself from being moderator. It all went straight downhill from there.
This guy is the poster boy for arrogance. Saw him today proclaim Teddy Atlas is not an expert.
In the past six months I have seen him argue with Alan Dershowitz about the Constitution, Birx about COVID, and a whole slew of other experts. He isn’t arguing opinion but acting as if he is a superior expert.
And his technique is always the same. Cock his head, give a creaky sounding “well, I don’t know about that” and proceed to provide no basis for his position or his doubt.
If I buy a pair of nerd glasses does that make me an instant expert?
Ok. All Wallace had to do was to look at every other Biden debate to see that is exactly what Biden does. He interrupts the other person like he did with Ryan.
Wallace should have made it clear then to Biden not to pull that stuff.
I thought Trump insult to Biden’s intelligence was after Biden called Trump dumb. Trump’s response wad how can you call me dumb when you lied about attending a black college, and finished at the bottom if the class in the school you did attend.
He allowed Biden to lie and deny, and he scolded the President every chance he could. If you read this debate, Trump inflicted punishing unanswered blows and Biden cannot pass a lie detector.
He is just SAD.....Period.

“It was frustrating for me because I tried hard to prepare for a serious debate, much more frustrating and more importantly for the American people because they didn’t get the debate they wanted that they deserved.”
He is upset because Trump whizzed in his punch bowl and fought back. Trump was supposed to just sit there and let Biden interrupt him every time he spoke like he did with Ryan. The more that I look back at the clips of the debate, the more I am sure Trump did the equivalent of kicking Biden in the crotch.
He should feel bad...for mostly attacker the wrong person.

Biden started it. And chrissy poo should have jump in and took control then.
He should take ownership. He was responsible for the format which was terrible. He was responsible for the questions which had nothing to do with problems really facing our country and he was the moderator yet could not control the debate? He should retire in shame.
