By now you've heard that President Trump and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the coronavirus. The president shared the news just a few hours after we got word that one of his top aides, Hope Hicks, had tested positive. Most folks are wishing the pair well, or saying prayers for them before they go to sleep tonight. President Trump is a high-risk group for COVID hospitalization, given his age and weight. But, as you can probably (sadly) expect, his critics are either smirking, or outright celebrating the scary diagnosis.
"I hope nothing but the worst for him," one Twitter user wrote.
"He deserves all that comes to him," said another.
He downplayed it and said it is what it is. I hope nothing but the worst for him.— Morehouse (@art_morehouse) October 2, 2020
I wish him nothing. Shame on him and shame on anyone that thinks he’s owed any mercy. He’s responsible for so much damage. He deserves all that comes to him.— Drew Zimmerman (@wdzimmy) October 2, 2020
Student gun control activist Cameron Kasky posted an Instagram video of himself laughing at the diagnosis. And there's apparently a whole thread of Tik Tokers who are sharing their own bliss.

See below for some more outrageous responses, including those who suggested that the president had it coming.
The president of the United States is arguably the most protected person in the world. Guarded by the best security, treated by the best doctors. He lives an insulated existence. That Donald Trump contracted this virus is a testament not to its strength, but to his carelessness.— Olivia Nuzzi (@Olivianuzzi) October 2, 2020
This COVID test is the only positive thing Trump has ever done.— Charlotte Clymer ?????? (@cmclymer) October 2, 2020
I don't think his story is going to have a happy ending.— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) October 2, 2020
A White House reporter then asked this "serious" question.
Serious question — Will POTUS call in to Fox & Friends tomorrow to calm the markets, and, everything else? #COVID19 #Trump— Mike Valerio (@MikevWUSA) October 2, 2020
Now, because I refuse to believe that all humanity is lost, here are the responses from a few of Trump's loudest and most prominent critics that surprised me.
Best wishes to President Trump and the First Lady. Whatever one thinks of his policies, I hope we can be civil, avoid snark, seek lessons and wish them both a swift recovery.— Nicholas Kristof (@NickKristof) October 2, 2020
God bless the president and the first lady. If you pray, please pray for their speedy and complete recovery — and for everyone infected, everywhere.
This virus is horrific and merciless — no one would wish its wrath on anyone.
We must get its spread under control. Enough.— Rachel Maddow MSNBC (@maddow) October 2, 2020
Get well soon, Mr. President and Melania.
We can deliver ourselves from evil (of course with the help of the lord, amen).
I dont have a good feeling about this. The timing seems almost choreographed.
Evil is real and is found in monsters that live among us, and those monsters pretend to be real people.
Yes; it is true.
Yup!
Who is Joey B?
may have gotten it from his wife, who got it from her aide, Hicks
The other way around!
Trump KNEW he was gonna be close to Old Joe, who would be WITHOUT his mask. So he plotted to be Typhoid Mary and infect him at the 'debate'.
(Y'all DO know that a cure is already available for the President; right??)
If you haven't heard a conspiracy theory by 9 AM; start one.
Didn’t Rabbi Nachman die in 1810? His foretelling of film is amazing.
Another Jew said it more concisely, 2000 years ago. His name is Yeshua.
Translated to modern English, he said, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
This is from the New Testament, Book of Matthew, Chapter 7, verses 1 and 2, using the New King James Version.

No, all this proves is that the virus will spread like the common cold - anyone can get it - despite silly masks, silly distancing, unconstitutional lockdowns and the best doctors in the world.
Despite the Presidents age and weight, he is not sick going into this - so there is every chance this will run its course like a cold or flu.
Hopefully, the President getting safely through this scary experience with only cold symptoms will show the nation that they can finally put overblown covid fears to rest, once and for all.
The virus will beg for a vaccine, to put it out of its misery.
Perhaps you would choose to laugh with joy; I don’t know too many that delight in other’s demise that are not leftists at the barest minimum. The people i surround myself with would choose to have Pelosi, Biden, Schumer, obamas, Clintons, out of power and money, but not dead or martyred.
Echo!
The people who took full advantage of a disease outbreak to escalate the deaths and blame them on Trump - do you really expect them to act like civilized humans in this matter?
The people who engineered, planned and supported the violent riots - they cannot be expected to do anything other than use this event to further their hatred for Trump.
The party that gave false information to the media regarding Trump and his appointees - do you think that party is going to let this situation pass by without them taking full advantage of it?
They are scum, and are showing it.
"Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?... And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?... Do you not know that we shall judge angels?... How much more, things that pertain to this life?.. If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge ? (1 Corinthians 6:1-5).
Many commands of God require the exercise of righteous judgment.
"But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us" (2 Thessalonians 3:6).
"And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother" (2 Thessalonians 3:14,15).
"Teach and exhort these things. If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wrangling of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself" (2 Timothy 6:2b-5).
"Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple" (Romans 16:17,18).
All these commands require the careful exercise of righteousness judgment. Do not be deceived by smooth words and flattering speech. Beware of wolves who come to you with a sheep's skin.
We must be careful not to make unqualified judgments. But we must judge appropriately when commanded to do so.
"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment." (John 7:24).
At the risk of repeating myself; have you ever noticed that generally, conservative republican women are much more attractive than liberal democratic women?
Yes I’ve snoozed a few FB friends because of the glee that they post about PDJT’s test results. It is really disgusting out there. Never has this Nation been this polarized.
