The New York Times’ Attack on Trump’s ‘Financial Acumen’ Is Nonsense
Breitbart ^ | September 28 2020 | JOHN CARNEY

The New York Times’ contention that President Donald Trump’s tax returns “undercut his claims of financial acumen” does not hold water.

Trump, however, is not doing himself any favors by not clearly explaining why he says his accountants figured he owed just $750 in taxes in 2016 and 2017—and not explaining that he actually paid millions in taxes for those years.

A headline in the Associated Press summary of the Times story declares: “TRUMP PAID JUST $750 IN TAXES IN BOTH 2016 and 2017.”

I would simply say, Joe, do you consider yourself real estate accounting and law expert for multimillion dollar international companies, the shad up.

I think that’s why he’s leaving it out there. Let them think this is a smoking gun, spend time on getting it in, then.. oops. Nothing.

If Trump’s tax returns and IRS issues are fair game, then Biden’s family corruption and personal income sources are also fair game.

Bring it on.

Ross Perot didn’t pay a nickel in income taxes because his income was derived from tax free municipal bonds.

What about the year Trump paid 32 million in taxes?
What about during the apprentice years when he paid 70 million in taxes?

Depreciation losses reduce you taxes right now. And you can defer loses to future years.
So its entirely possible and not uncommon to have a year of zero taxes paid.

What is wrong with that? It has already been ruled that a person has the right to arrange his affairs to minimize his tax burden.

In fact that is the whole theory of those attempting ‘social change’ by taxing more some things and less others, they expect people to change their behavior accordingly.

Barely educated and literate journalists have no basis to criticize any businessman. They write on a sixth grade level for a living. They do not even possess journalistic integrity. Their educations, err indoctrinations, are in journalism. Not fiance. They never started, owned or operated a business. They are simply windbags for Marxists and never had an original thought of their own. They are not experts in anything except in the use of their style book and the use of punctuation. You can contrast this with President Trump and his life’s achievements.

"Trump didn't pay any taxes!" Like Robert Kiyosaki said when addressing those whiners: "Well, duh! Rich people don't pay taxes - they direct their investments into things government wants done by the private sector, so they get tax credits for doing so." Real estate investors "pay" in other ways, by taking on projects government admits they aren't good at doing.

The politicians and media who are mad about this set of facts are pandering to the kind of low-end wage slaves who think the rich should be punished for daring to own wealth.

Likely this will be Wallace’s Trump ‘Gotcha’ question which will change the whole debate away from Biden and his problems, thereby setting up DJT to lose the debate and all the following ones - as the leftie mods will pick up on this issue and amplify it.

You’re right, of course, and the whole point of this is to force Trump to “defend why he didn’t pay”. In that sense the Left got what they wanted, the headline and sound bite. It’s only been a couple days and I’ve already seen yard signs “I pay more taxes than Trump.”

It is true enough that Trump gave the government millions of dollars in 2016 and 2017, but it is also true that Trump’s tax liability for those years was just $750 once his return was filed.

The government is holding the millions against future tax year liabilities.

So both statements are true: Trump paid the government millions, and Trump owed $750 in taxes.

Yep. Biden was denied his 2 breaks tonight. So I figure the Gotcha will come about 40 minutes in and then there will be a “power outage”. That way, Biden gets to bail out and the audience will be left with seeing Trump defending “why he didn’t pay his fair share.”

The political answer is to ignore it and attack Biden.

The accountant’s answer is “Are you referring to the President’s personal tax return, his C Corp, his S Corp or his LLC?”

The most accurate answer is “nothing here but more BS from the failing NYT.”
