The debate was the worst I've witnessed. Chris Wallace was constantly badgering Trump, interrupting Trump, arguing with Trump, what a disaster.

His questions were wholly partisan, demanding Trump dismiss White supremacists when are streets are burning from Antifa riots????

Reagan did not do well at all in his first debate with Mondale, in 1984. People started to speculate about Reagan’s mental state after it, and even though he was still ahead in the polls, he lost 7 points after it. Of course he recovered for the last two debates.

The point is, there’s a history of the first debates not going well for incumbent Presidents. But it appears at the very least, Trump held serve.

I suspect the VPOTUS will be much more restrained when he decapitates Da Hoe in their debate.

Careful. We expected Ryan to smash Biden in 2012, too.

Remember, you are not debating one person, you are debating a large team of talented people. The candidate (Biden or Heelsup in 2020) or incumbent (Biden in 2012) are merely the presenters.

Hey laz. I think this was a nightmare. Especially for wallace/biden, but it wasn’t that good for Trump either. A total cluster...

Good point! 2012: I remember that Jack Nicholson-esque smile Hiden had.

“Baris’s last two polls shows China Virus isn’t even in the top THREE.“

It seems too good to be true, but I personally know around fifty life long Democrats converted to Trump - mostly blue collar or small business owners / tradesmen contractors - for them, the issue is jobs / economy.

But interestingly, they are articulating it in terms of deregulation, the rights of individuals, vs. job killing regulation and overbearing government. They are talking about Trump getting out of stupid wars and stupid trade deals...

Its pretty amazing really. Trump is creating a fresh new batch of conservatives.

No, but I’ve been seeing that same type comment at other places (should there be other debates, cutting off the mike of the one whose time it isn’t). And the shameful/disgraceful/headaches comments as well.

I figured out it was ABC News and it was Chris Christie. Considering who he is and the fact he helped President Trump with the debate prep, of course he’s going to think Biden did badly. I couldn’t find a clip of just Christie, but he’s first up speaking in this clip (warning: Rahm Emmanuel is on the clip too!). Christie did say the plan was for President Trump to be aggressive in the debate but it was probably hotter than it should have been. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdYcK6CkGjw

You cannot say “screw you” respectively.

Only a douche would insult someone and then suggest it is done respectfully.

Don’t kid yourself. You are not a good person.

The more I think about it, it was a “Kobiyashi Maru” for Trump.

I agree. Trump sees the writing on the wall - that he is losing in the polls. This is the best he could do.

That’s not what dfwgator was implying at all. Trump was in a no win scenario in the debates....his polling isn’t that bad and improving!

What are you some sort of Emperor Palpatine...?.” the cause is lost and trump is walking into a trap and America is doomed...!”

I am very disappointed that none of the pundits brought up Biden's demeaning statements to a sitting President of the United States:
<><> calling Trump a "clown"
<><> telling a sitting president to "shut up, man"

This is very significant.

Reminds me of a Democrat state Senator with plenty of campaign cash and endorsements from every politician, union available, considered a shoo-in, running for the retiring Democrat's Congressional seat.

One day at a press conference, his opponent showed up....he was a poor young man, a Republican who had never held office, with no money....considered a longshot.

The state Senator looked disdainfully at his opponent and said,"Get out of here, boy, you bother me."

This quickly became a cause celebre....the Senator was lacerated for mocking an opponent, for showing the young wannabe no respect.....and segued into the state Senator having to take the blame for denigrating our system of govt.

Needless to stay, the young man won the seat and the State Senator was never heard from again.

Biden needs to be called to account for denigrating a sitting president.

Biden mocked not only Trump's supporters but the US govt, as well.

“He was kissing Biden’s ass.”

and also challenging him with his father’s own words to show how he is a better alternative to Trump, and Trump to show how he’s a better alternative to Biden.
