Trump’s recent moves on steel have made him some new friends in the industry. Leo Gerard of United Steelworkers recently told NBC’s Chuck Todd that steel workers are going to remember what Trump did for them.

In an interview with a combative Chuck Todd, Leo Gerard, President of the United Steelworks, praised the effect of President Trump’s newly proclaimed tariffs would have on the U.S. steel market. Gerard praised Trump for making it clear he is going to “tackle trade deficits” which he called a “wealth transfer” because they are “taking good jobs away.”
Gerard said Trump was able to “see the steelworker agenda” and “he’s going to have a major impact on our members” with what he has done.
“It’s going to make it very hard for our members to ignore what he just did and what makes me sad is we’ve been trying to get Democrats to this for more than 30 years,” Gerard told Todd.
Gerard said Trump is finally “going to help us get a level playing field” after 20 years of promises from Democratic and Republican presidents. While unions are notoriously large supporters of Democrats, Gerard said Trump’s administration has recognized that if the next 20 years are like the last 20 years then “we have a national security problem.” Gerard made it clear his union will work with the administration to prioritize U.S.-made steel.

American workers tend to like presidents who stick up for them and their jobs.
Their parents and grandparents voted democrat, they will too.
One of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard of.
My grandmother was an old school industrial socialist and probably my biggest influence politically in my teen years. I overcame that and didn’t vote D in my first Presidential election at 21.
That people vote D because of their grandparents’ political history is mind-boggling to me.
Wish this interview/video was more recent. The interview and article was from March 2018. Does anyone know if the steel worker’s union has endorsed Trump this year?
The modern Dem party doesn’t really focus on workers any more and many of the bigger unions are off spending money on transgender workshops and BLM. I have no idea why the actual dues payers stills support them let alone vote for libs.
Chuck Todd aired this? Is he going senile, too? This sort of news must be suppressed. It helps Orange Man Bad.
Then they should also volunteer to go to voting booths and watch to make sure democrats don’t cheat

The 2019 data I saw recently from the U.S. Labor Department showed fewer than 150,000 Americans working in steel mills and iron/steel forges.
The United Steelworkers union probably has at least five retirees for every active worker. Even the union doesn’t give a sh!t about steel anymore. They only care about Social Security, Medicare, and collecting pensions.

Shortly after joining the IAM, the socialist union steward tried to steal a couple tools from my roll-away. Could only handle the union environment a couple of months.
When JFK was running, I was on the verge of turning 18. My dad sat me down and told me the truth about the Kennedy family.
They have not, but, three Union US Steel workers live in my neighborhood {they all make $150,000 - 200,000/year} and they all are Trumpers {under cover, no yard signs}.
I talk with them and they say that the vast majority of the guys they works with are undercover Trumpers.
No average Union guy needs the grief that can come from openly going against the union policy.
They still have arm twisters, and then there is blm, antifa and other night time goons, that have no reservation about fire bombing your property.
Most Western PA union people {not SEIU, nor Teachers} are quiet but dedicated, Trumpers.
President Trump is not a Republican.. he is an American.

Included is a Biden plan article and a Trump-broke-promises article. I haven’t bothered to read them. The leadership is still a front for Communism, but the members probably haven’t all lost their minds along with their hard-earned money for dues.
All the rank and file IBEW I know did, and will, vote for Trump.
