Liberals were ALWAYS intolorant. They ALWAYS spoke in good vs evil absolutes. People ignored their telling us who they are. Not so much anymore...
They may have pushed against the fences that held together the social order, but they never would have knocked them down.
Today's "liberal" can't imagine why the fences were there in the first place.
Actually, I believe that the origin of the name “Liberal” is from Ancient Greece and the Greek Democracies.
The “Liberals” were the Free People. They studied the “Liberal Arts”, the writings of thinkers, and music and such. The rest of the people were Slaves. They studied the “Industral Arts” and kept the toilets working.
Only the “Liberals” could vote.
If Piers has to ask how this came about he’s not too bright is he?

Yet here they are, screaming, shrieking, hollering and hectoring us all into a world of staggering intolerance, and attempting to inhibit or silence our freedom of speech, particularly on our most pertinent societal issues.
HOW has this happened?

WHAT will stop it?

They don’t see any need to debate anything because they’re so utterly convinced that they are 100 per cent right about everything.
The answer is that what they believe is what the leftists at elite educational institutions teach. The logic of leftism is that there can't be another valid opinion on anything outside of leftism. For example, saying that a so called "transgender" has mental problems cannot be accepted as a valid opinion, because by the logic of leftism the person saying it is an oppresser. How can the oppressor's opinion possibly be accepted as valid? There's no way to reason with that.
If he really wants the lunacy stopped, the elite educational institutions have to be almost gutted. If he doesn't recognize that fact, he's pretty dense. Or he doesn't want to go there because he'd be siding with conservatives.
Just complaining about it will have no effect. He's either too stupid to realize it, or he thinks it's more important not to sound like a conservative then to get at the source of the problem.
It's been a long time since people who call themselves liberals have been in favor of freedom and tolerance, not to mention gradual change.
Or was it when students at Oxford University banned clapping at Student Union events in case it triggered anxiety? That was nuts. Ultimately, I think the final straw came when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called for the word ‘mankind’ to be outlawed because it was sexist. There, right there, was the purest, maddest example of the world going completely stark raving bonkers...
I’ve spent years in the eye of this illiberal liberal storm....and I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body. Yet that hasn’t stopped the woke crowd regularly and furiously branding me racist, sexist, homophobic and transphobic. There’s no room for logic or reason in the world of illiberal liberalism.

Why? Because they keep losing and they can’t stand it any longer, even though we are going through the usual exchange of presidents every 8 years that has become common since Roosevelt.

(At her speech, Coulter was pelted with oranges by members of the Hispanic separatist group MEChA.) In 2004-2005, the administration attempted to shut down The Cornell American, a cousin conservative paper, for opposing racial preferences.
Because they were never liberal, they just stole the name to give themselves cover.

Because they are not liberals at all. They are communists, period.
It’s the natural progression of leftism. It moves ever further left until it ruins everything thing it touches then implodes.
This is why communism/socialism/leftism never works in the long run.
Piers seems like an ok kinda guy who sometimes gets it; maybe now than before.
This should be encouraged.
I watched an old black and white liberal movie, it was quite the feminist movie where the hero is a prostitute and the villain happens to be her lover but also a jealous activist communist who murders her for going out with a rich guy

I live in California. I am subject to felony conviction and lifetime loss of gun rights if a put a plastic pistol grip on my rifle.
Did gun owning conservatives win a civil war while I wasn't paying attention? The time to "forgive and forget" is far off and I will certainly NEVER forget.
