(I understand that it is also known as ‘Freedom Day’, ‘Liberation Day’, and ‘Emancipation Day’.) Yes Kanadaharians SHOULD celebrate emancipation or liberation from the economic, social, and spiritual enslavement of Mao ZeTrue-dope.

Of course, our day of emancipation in Alberta may just be called INDEPENDENCE DAY, the creation of a new country, Alberta! (It could be called Canada West if Saskatchewan and N. British Columbia join us.) A day of celebration.

Slavery in the USA did not end in June of 1865.
It was December of 1865 when the 13th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified that slavery in the USA ended, not just for states in armed rebellion.

Except those are two very important dates for black Americans.
1. Gettysburg Address
2. South surrender at Appomattox Courthouse.

I would argue either of those is MUCH more important than the dumb “Juneteenth” which just celebrates some slaves in Texas belatedly learning about their emancipation. It celebrates whites withholding the important news from their slaves.
