So, who is the word offender? The Los Angeles Times:
The audit report referred to one particularly problematic case involving an unnamed UC regent. The California State Auditors office has identified that person to The Times as Blum, the husband of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and a Berkeley alumnus who has given his alma mater millions of dollars over the years.
Blum, who has served as a regent since 2002, declined to comment. Feinstein had no comment, spokesman Tom Mentzer said. (snip)
UC Berkeley was the worst offender, the audit said, with 55 cases of inappropriate admissions. Among them, 14 cases involved students who were denied admission through the regular process and were offered a spot on the waitlist. Blums letter came in support of one of those waitlisted students, the audit said.
But that student, like the 13 others on the waitlist, had received uncompetitive scores from readers that gave them poor chances of being admitted, the audit said.

term limits would make some sense. if they’re good enough for el presendente, theyre good enough for lowly, corrupt senators
“Term limits would make some sense. if theyre good enough for el presidente, they’re good enough for lowly, corrupt senators.”
One of my older and wiser male cousins retired from public office after 4 years due to the criminal b$, even then, in the late 1950’s to early 1960’s.
He felt that even 4 years might be too long to serve. However. he felt 4 years total at the local/state and federal level was enough. The last I checked with him, he was for a one 3 year term.
Also, then after 4 years, the retired politicians could not be connected to any level of government even as advisors.
They could only serve in an open environment for special projects with limited terms until that project was completed.
thanks.
there IS the argument that voters should be permitted to send an incumbent back if they wish
and I respect that point of view
but given the mass scale corruption in WashDC and several state capitols, I am tending towards this kind of term limit rule anyway
we need a mechanism to clear out the crooks ~ if we lose a few good honest reps then... its bad to be sure.. but so be it.
Unless we can figure out a different way to Drain the Dammmed Swamp! PDJT has tried but only got about, what, 2 percent of the draining accomplished? it is NOT easy to ask alligators to vacate cushy swamps! it appears that we may need automatic mechanisms like term limits?
