A simple majority of registered voters are on board with abolishing the Electoral College for presidential elections in favor of the popular vote.
According to a new Hill-HarrisX poll released Tuesday, 51% of respondents said they would be in favor of weakening the influence of states without dense populations on the outcome of the election, whereas 49% believe it should be kept "to distribute voter power among all 50 states."

The Electoral College is the firewall which protects the country from massive blue state vote fraud.
The best way to understand the need for the Electoral College is to look at a county-by-county map of the 2016 voting and remember that the Founding Fathers wanted the President to have widespread appeal, not just narrow appeal.

I can GUARANTEE you that the young people of today have NO IDEA what the electoral college is OR why it exists,!! Our education system doesn’t teach them a damn thing about this let alone English and math!! These young people as seen in the streets think MOB rule is just fine!!

They walked around some campus and got students to sign a petition to ban "dihydrogen monoxide." Almost every student immediately signed the petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide, especially as it was described to them as "being excessively corrosive" and the cause of many deaths by strangulation.
Sounds like a nasty chemical, doesn't it?
Well dihydrogen monoxide is the chemical name for water.
It may causes things to rust (corrosion) and people to drown (strangulation) but we can't live without it.
In 2016, Ms Clinton had 2,868,691 more votes nationally than did Mr Trump, according to the CNN website.
In California that year, she had 4,269,978 more votes than did Trump. Therefore, if you remove the California votes, Trump won the popular vote as well.
If you want to get rid of the Electoral College, then you are allowing one state, California, to choose the president.

I loved to watch those college walk-arounds. It scared me to death how very ignorant these students are. This says all that needs to be said about our eduction system.
