Trump's not a fool. He won't approach Joe the way he approached Clinton. He'll demonstrate the the same compassion he showed for the demise of RBG for the demise of Joe's brain.
My suggestion to Trump: the instant Wallace interjects his own opinion (but not before), Trump should say, “ Who am I debating, him (Biden) or you (Wallace)? Why can’t he talk for himself?”
Then spend the rest of the debate arguing against Wallace. He needs to wait until Wallace clearly shows his bias though or it won’t have the same effect.
If they can’t get Biden’s engines started, they’ll have Harris go in for him at the last minute. Excuse will likely be a family emergency having nothing, nothing! to do with his fitness.

But I would think we would have a system where (essentially) write-ins cannot be rolled all together to put one person in office —
Joe Biden gets x number of votes but drops out for health reasons before election day.
Michelle Obama steps up and gets Y number of votes before, during and after election day.
Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Donald Duck also get some votes.
Since all of the above people are officially Democrats, the Democrat electors are chosen and Republican Donald Trump loses the race.
