Manhattan's district attorney on Monday said the 'mountainous' allegations of misconduct linked to President Donald Trump and his businesses justified enforcing a subpoena for his tax returns and other financial records.
The district attorney's office also suggested for the first time Monday that Trump could be investigated for tax fraud, according to The New York Times.
Lawyers for District Attorney Cyrus Vance made the argument in a filing with the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan, four days before it considers Trump's request to block the August 2019 subpoena to his accounting firm Mazars USA.

This is ridiculous! Does the DA really think he knows more about tax law than the IRS? President Trump is investigated by the IRS every year. Mr. Vance is floundering, hoping to get lucky. Doubt it.
“When you sign a tax return, regardless of who prepared it you are saying that it is correct.“
That’s mostly true, but there are important nuances.
If it is clear that the irregularity came about with the full knowledge and advice of council, and that the client did not deliberately hide facts and evidence from council, this will affect what charges are brought against whom, and what the proper remedy is.
When you sign a tax return, you are not saying it is correct, you are saying that to the best of your knowledge it is correct.

We left MA partly because of Healey.
I tried to warn DJT not to use turbo-tax.
The IRS has that responsibility.
They have audited his returns heavily for most likely over 30 years.
There is NOT a single politician who knows more about accounting than Trump’s accountants & tax lawyers.
AND Newsom’s. AND Obama’s.

Exactly - if they had all them mountains of proof, they’d indict, but they know that they have hopes without proof and don’t want trump to have the satisfaction of suing them back into diapers.
