Republicans are preparing to release a report in a matter of days on their investigation focused on former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, a move they hope will put fresh scrutiny on the Democratic nominee just weeks from the election.
The controversial probe, spearheaded by Sens. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), is focused broadly on Obama-era policy and Hunter Biden's work for Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings.
The GOP report, which is set to be released this week, is expected to argue that Hunter Bidens work impacted Obama-era Ukraine policy and created a conflict of interest given then-Vice President Joe Bidens work in the area.
No evidence has indicated criminal wrongdoing by the Bidens. A narrative, seized on by President Trump, that Biden worked to oust Ukrainian Prosecutor Viktor Shokin to protect his son has been widely discredited, though Hunter Biden has said joining the board was poor judgement.
I think its time for the American people to see what weve got, said Johnson, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
Though hes argued for months that his probe isnt being driven by the 2020 election, Johnson has teased the forthcoming findings as damaging to Bidens political prospects and placed it in the context of the rapidly approaching November election.
"What our investigations are uncovering, I think, will reveal this is not somebody we should be electing president of the United States," Johnson said in an interview with local Wisconsin radio station WCLO.
The release of the report will come days before the first debate between Joe Biden and Trump, with the presidents allies likely to seize on the probe's findings and Johnson hoping it sparks new scrutiny by the media.

How is it controversial if it hasn’t been released yet?

Excellent. Im glad somebody has enough courage to step up and state the obvious; to address the elephant in the room. God knows Barr aint about to do anything.
What do you mean 'new' ... how about ANY?
Right. And how is it controversial when Joe Biden himself is on tape bragging about the quid pro quo regarding Ukraine?
It is only 'controversial' because lawless jerk 'rats believe that they are above the law.
Much ado about nothing. Chappaquiddik was stepped under the rug so what else is new?
lol.
How about Jackass-Joe on video bragging about bribing the Ukraine government to obstruct justice?
“Controversial” only if one sides, like The Hill, with criminals.
The Ukraine thing is one of the issues. What about the $1.5 Billion Hunter got from the Chinese?
ever notice that whenever the Dems release a “report” that it’s NEVER “controversial”? ... Only when the Pubs release a report is it “controversial” ...
Chappaquiddick had its consequences. I agree with most experts who say that Chappaquiddick was the reason fat Teddy never became president.
What about the $1.5 Billion Hunter got from the Chinese?
When it comes to Democrats, I guess we are not even supposed to ask legitimate questions.
“What about the $1.5 Billion Hunter got from the Chinese?”
That will be Chapter 2 of the best selling “The Biden Family Crime Syndicate.”
I suspect there is much more similar money-laundering schemes throughout the world which have happened over his 47 years.

Did “The Hill” call the Mueller report “controversial”?
Didn’t think so.
