A message from Chuck Schumer to the GOP delivered February 22, 2016
NOQ Report ^ | September 20, 2020 | Blaine Traber

When Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell declined to hold confirmation hearings or a vote on President Obama’s final Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland, Democrats were enraged. The reasoning McConnell cited was the fact that it was an election year with a new president to be elected a few months later. It was a political move, of course; had a Republican been in the White House, McConnell would not have delayed.

That’s one of the problems with political parties and both sides play the same game. They tend to do what’s expedient for their party by making the rules convenient as they go. But fair is fair. If some want to complain that McConnell is being inconsistent by pledging to hold a vote for President Trump’s nominee to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg, others can complain that Schumer is being inconsistent by claiming now that it shouldn’t be done. In 2016, he held a very different position.

President Trump intends to nominate a woman for the open seat next week. When he does, Democrats will cry foul. Some NeverTrump Republicans will cry foul. Mainstream media will cry foul. But at the end of the day, McConnell is right. He has been given responsibility to the American people to push President Trump’s agenda and oppose the Democrats. That’s why his party was given the majority in 2014, held it in 2016, and expanded it in 2018.

The Senate and the nation mourn the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the conclusion of her extraordinary American life.

Any response to Schumer should start with ... “One of the most powerful demonkraps in Congress, Senator Schumer who in early 2020 physically threatened two sitting justices with violence, said today .... “

in 2016 i swear i could remember chuck wanting the senate to confirm one of obama’s nominees in a presidential election year, where the currwnt president was a lame duck and couldn’t even be re-elected

Funny that. The media is piling on GOP “hypocrisy” when it really is the demonkraps hypocrisy, who would do exactly what they don’t want the GOP to do. Make them take the pledge now that they will never do this ever as a party in the future. Then, after any of these demonkraps accuse the GOP of hypocrisy, if I were to answer my answer ... you know, we don’t always see things as our “friends on the other side of the aisle” but in 2020, we now see their great wisdom from 2016... we agree ... we have a constitutional duty to fill that seat before the election. Besides, CJ ROberts said there is no such thing as political judges ... and demonkraps agreed. We’re on board. So what’s all the yelling about?

Hey Chuck, elections have consequences, we won and you lost. Sound familiar?

They tend to do what’s expedient for their party by making the rules convenient as they go.

There was no 'rule' change. Merely a choice was made. Last time they decided, as is the prerogative of a senate majority, to delay until after the election. This time they will likely choose to press on immediate. No rules were changed.

AND Obama was a lame duck.....he wouldn’t have President to pick a new SCOTUS ‘Justice’. If/when Trump wins, he will be appointing a ‘Justice’ anyway, but with the overwhelming cheating the Left is going to do, Trump may not have a friendly Senate to get his nominee through.

I always said, in the run-up to the 2016 election, if the country wants Merrick Garland on the SCOTUS, they will elect Hillary. Didn’t happen.
