Even if Trump wins overwhelmingly there will likely be court challenges. The GOP needs to be prepared.

Yep, plus the next court appointment after Ginsburg could very well be someone for Clearance Thomas’s seat, if he retires some day.

If President Donald Trump, a Republican, is able to install a conservative replacement in time, the new justice could help resolve any dispute in favor of the president - an outcome that would deepen the country's partisan divide and threaten the court's reputation as an independent arbiter, some legal experts said.

Nonsense. Would the Associalist Press say that if the show were on the other foot and it was the Democrats who were going to get the advantage after the new Justice was seated?

All the more reason why that vacancy must be filled before the election. Otherwise we risk a constitutional crisis with a deadlocked Supreme Court. We all know Roberts can’t be trusted.

Just having her out is half of the game. Now the Leftists on the Supreme Court CANNOT overturn anything from the lower courts, even if Roberts joins them - as that only results in a 4-4 decision, meaning the lower court ruling stands.

Where it’s important to Americans are hard-left rulings by the lower courts, which needs that 9th judge to overturn (assuming, again, Roberts joins the left).

So we are halfway there...perhaps a nice ‘compromise’ would be what was floated in 2016, which is a recess appointment by Trump, which would then be in place for the remainder of the year. After that, then whoever becomes president would get to permanently fill the seat. That keeps control with us through the election and vote counting, but makes it much tougher for the Democrats to make a case of the system being ‘rigged’ (although they’ll try and they’ll riot, in any case).

...deepen the partisan divide...

For real, AP?

How could it get any deeper than it is now?

“...an outcome that would deepen the country’s partisan divide and threaten the court’s reputation as an independent arbiter, some legal experts said.”

Notice, the Court can preserve it reputation as an independent arbiter only if it rules against Trump. This is before the case hits the Supreme Court and before the facts are known.

Now that is really an objective take on the situation.

But it reveals the rabid ideological toxicity “that lives loudly” in them.

Okay, I am too weak and beaten down, I can't take it anymore. I give up. We cannot have a partisan divide in this country. It's just not right, pitting brother against brother, sister against sister. I guess the only rational thing to do, the only nice thing to do, is to vote Harris-Biden and pray to God that there's no problems with this election. I am going to take action now to make sure Trump doesn't install another illegitimate justice. I know it would be illegitimate because I heard it on Al Sharpton's program on MSNBC. The former Attorney General of the United States of America said so. (emphasis on "United"). We need to be United. As that famous and wise prophet for Los Angeles once said, "Can't we just all get along?"

No, eff'n way. We do not give one inch on this. We need to throw every Rat out of office, ridicule and ostracize ever Democrat and RINO. We need another four more years of Trump, hold the Senate, gain the house, add three new conservative, right-wing, completely extremist Supreme Court Justices, and watch the leftist heads explode. I could give a rats ass about partisanship and being divided. I am sick of this uni-party, deep state bull schiff that has destroyed out country. If the left wants partisanship, they are more than welcome to change every fiber of their being and become conservative. Short of that, they can rot in hell.

Even if Cocaine Mitch can ramrod through a Trump nominee, the Left will scream for the new Justice to recuse themself from any election-related decisions.

Not necessarily.A tie vote at SCOTUS is the same as a vote upholding the ruling of the court immediately below it...the court which referred the case to SCOTUS.

But with her voting we all know that she would have voted incorrectly...in defiance of the Constitution.
