Democrats will take to every media outlet to claim it will be politically dangerous for GOP senators to move a nominee.
The exact opposite is true.
In 2018, 4 D senators lost their seats for opposing Kavanaugh: Heitkamp; Donnelly; McCaskill; Nelson.

Why do Red States send Dems to DC anyway ?
Not exactly true. McCaskill was doomed long before the Kavanaugh nomination.
Doug Jones AL hasnt said a word about the death of Bad Girl Ginsberg.
Not a tweet. Not a Facebook post. Nothing.
He must be scared out of his liberal mind.
Why wouldn’t Commie Reds send Demonrats ?
He knows he’s done.
Because the GOP is awful at finding good candidates.
Yep. In far too many races, Republicans nominate whackjobs allowing the Dems to run their candidate as a "moderate" (until they get to office and then show themselves to be anything but).
McKaskill went up against our pretty boy. Those attributes count.
Nelson went up against our best possible nominee. Those things count too. Braun said/did something stupid recently.
Todd Akin crapped in his own foxhole. Thus insuring Ma McCaskill her job. But now she is gone. So glad for that...
Apparently.
Who are some of the Democrat candidates or sitting senators who could be threatened by the confirmation hearing? On our side (and including her on our side made me throw up in my mouth a bit), Susan Collins is going to have some tricky waters to navigate. McSally was quick to support a confirmation which makes me think that she sees it helping her in Arizona against Kelly.
Perhaps. But, certainly her tone deaf behavior during the Kavanaugh confirmation was her trademark and is why she is not in the Senate, and not living in Missouri. the Kavanaugh debacle served to remind Missouri voters who she was.
Braun is a real embarrassment for us Hoosiers. Turns out he’s a weak man.
Jones stands very little chance of winning.
I think the SCOTUS situation helps the GOP a little bit. This is not because it will motivate the GOP base (they are already there). It is because the far left is going to go crazy (again) and most independents are sick of the non-stop noise from the left.
Nominating a Catholic mother with impeccable credentials who is already a Circuit Judge confirmed by the Senate will provide a sympathetic target for the left to go crazy on (and they will). It’s just a bad look. Endless questions about abortion for certain with a manufactured scandal or two.... They just cannot help themselves. Many of the male democrats in the Senate will not be able to help themselves. Pray that Kamala gets to ask questions too - she came across as mean, petty, and spiteful with Kavanaugh.
P.S. - Abortion is NOT a good issue for the left in national politics. It still raises lots of money for them and plays well to their base, but overall public support for abortion has decreased dramatically in the last decade even among young people.
The Democrats were defending 10 states Trump won in 2016.
All in all, Id say it was a pretty awful performance by the GOP in 2018.
That’s the flip side of Collin/Murkowski - the red state dem senators that would have to oppose trump before the election.
Who are vunerable dems up now?
Good point....Donald will help out by equating the opposition with the "peaceful protests" the left has been blazing way at.
Correct. Claire was gifted a re-election in 2012 by a dumb@$$ed opponent who threw the game.
