Until Roger Goodell and the NFL recently signified their devotion to the anti-American mythology promoted by Black Lives Matter and prostrated themselves before its pantheon of privileged heroes such as Colin Kaepernick, football had for decades been something that made us all incredibly happy and was a central feature of our lives each fall. Now it will not be a part of our lives for the foreseeable future, and I seriously doubt that we're unique.
That should strike fear into the hearts of NFL executives. There is a seismic shift beneath our feet in the world of sports today, and I think most sports fans of a certain age see it clearly, even if the top brass of the NFL cannot.

There is no way out for Goodell. The only viable way out for the NFL, at this point, is to oust Goodell and announce a "Back to Football" campaign to coincide with the receding of the COVID crisis. An announcement centering on national pride and normalcy would be amazingly easy to achieve and wildly popular, and it would maintain the NFL's position as "America's sport."
That is the only thing that might salvage the destruction that Roger Goodell has caused. The NFL's newfound wokeness under his leadership is unlikely to attract new fans of the game, but a quick pivot to normalcy might halt the current exodus of its traditional fan base. Even still, many fans will never return to watching football, and it seems a foregone conclusion that the NFL will never again be dominant in American life as it once was.

BTW, I often did other things while I was enjoying football, especially when I had it on the radio. Activities including: housework, sewing, paying bills, home repair, yard work, cooking, baking, elder care.
All while enjoying the game and the company I shared it with.

I certainly understand it. I used to watch a ridiculous amount of sports.(I still trained and played sports)
Many people, even though in a group, are just getting hammered and eating 5000 calories.
The US is getting fatter, lazier, and less moral.

If someone wanted to sit, relax, and enjoy a game, that was fine with me.
Part of what made it easier for me was that I grew to hate the TV coverage and much preferred the radio announcers.
And I just can’t sit that long while doing nothing else unless I’m reading. And whatever I’m reading better be engrossing.

Yes, but even that is disappointing. Cuck masks everywhere, and have you noticed that during the jersey presentations after the stages, it is no longer two attractive women on either side of the cyclist, but a woman on one side, and a man on the other? Yeah, a minor thing, I suppose, but it is just another example of “wokeness”. I guess someone decided it was sexist or something.
It is national sports that have helped collectivize the nation. As has media iin general.
I am in Pittsburgh, and have never seen or felt less interest in a Steelers opening game. I don’t even know what the score was. Anybody see the ratings?
That will never happen. the players have too much authority now, and "woke" is how they like it. It probably galls some people like Drew Brees, who was basically forced to eat a sandwich made of his own feces; but wokeness in sports is here to stay. The dumbass players who started it are just useful idiot tools of the Commies or Jihadists who want to destroy the things that once unified Americans.

He was fined by commissioner Roselle.
The next televised Bears game McMahon wore a homemade “Roselle” headband.
Fined again.
The No Fun League has ALWAYS determined what could be worn and what actions players could take. Now the WokeFL is now openly siding with those who hate us.

I also live in the Burgh. For the first time I didn’t watch last night and could care less.
Aligning themselves with the racist/terrorist cult of BLM was a stupid thing to do ... but then again we’re talking about “big business” here although until 2015 the NFL itself was considered a non-profit “trade organization” by the IRS.
