Actor Diana Rigg, best known for starring in the 1960s British TV espionage thriller The Avengers, died on Thursday at the age of 82 in London. According to a statement from her daughter Rachael Stirling, she was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year

Age 15 I saw her in a stage production of Abelard and Heloise in London. She, Heloise, and whomever played Abelard came on stage naked and embraced on the floor. 1969. My Mom and Dad were so embarrassed. I thought it was weird. Yes, she was someone who could be naked. She must have been 33?
She did a good job as the Duchess of Buccleuch in the series Victoria. I liked that show more than I expected to. And in some ways it was surprisingly historically accurate.
She is also in a three part mini-series that hasn’t yet been released—her last performance.

Having been born in the 70s I obviously have no memory of her from the Avengers. She was very good in the role of Olenna Tyrell - the matriarch of House Tyrell in Game of Thrones.
