Yeah, that is why these days uninsured coverage for damage to your vehicle by an uninsured driver is so expensive. In essence, we are paying their insurance. Rarely do they write tickets for no insurance coverage albeit it is a necessity. IMO, when finding an uninsured car, they should call in a mobile car crusher and leave it at the curb, crushed, with the license plate on the rear. If the driver is an illegal with no license, they should be in the car when it is crushed.
Also why it’s called “uninsured/underinsured motorist” coverage these days, yes.
Mostly those types just saw “standard riot coverage” and didn’t bother reading further. Riot coverage *is* mostly standard issue these days, but as noted above, it’s not necessarily going to even get close to covering the damages. People don’t read the fine print.
A handful of states have enacted, "no pay, no play," laws that prohibit the uninsured from filing claims against the insured i.e., if you, with a valid policy, accidentally hit somebody who's driving without a valid policy, they can't file a claim against your insurance. Depending on the state, there are some varying exclusions, but overall, I wish more states would adopt these laws.
However, those contractors said, that is because government ordinances mandate that they treat debris from burned-out buildings as hazardous, which can then as much as double the cost for the job.
Around Chiraq the waste haulers are ALL CROOKS ALL THE TIME and many areas only allow aproved companies. And they can charge whatever they feel like.
Put an addition on my house, the price is +50% for my area!
And YOU are my sworn enemy for forcing me into this game!!!!
Interesting discussion here recently on Washington states abrogation of sovereign immunity that might help plaintiffs in these situations. However here in California, and I suspect in most states, sovereign immunity bars lawsuits for failure of police to act
Thanks for posting this. Another BLM/Antifa lie as they continually shrug about the losses innocent business owners suffer telling us that insurance will pay for it.
It is infuriating.
They also say nothing of people of color to include innocent children who are murdered in part due to the forced withdrawal of police from communities.
That's what I thought. Pretty sure my homeowners policy says that.
Actions have consequences.
Actions that lead to inaction have consequences.
You voted these liberals in, you dig out on your own.
Damn fools.
>>Sue the City for not providing the necessary protection, then add the politician names in the action.<<
Those are wending their way through the court system.
I am not sanguine on the outcome.
In the same way a cop does not have an affirmative duty to actually do his/her job, a city does not have an affirmative duty to provide protection to its inhabitants nor businesses. IOW they have immunity.
The facts of the case might not even matter. Even if the mayor led the rioters and said “attack this business” that would at best be a tort and the city could be sued civilly under agency law. This of course did not happen in any of the instant cases as withholding LEOs falls 100% under the purview of the city’s management decision process.
That is my educated guess.
That thought occurred to me several years ago. Being retired with some assets to live out my days and pass on to my kids, I decided not to take the chance--bought an umbrella policy.
The only McLarens I've seen were at an auto show and on Jay Leno's Garage. But I still don't want to take the chance. There are Teslas around here.
>>40-55$ a ton in Rochester, NY. My neighbor is in the business.<<
Sounds lucrative.
I have been preaching this for well over a week, since I saw the first “They have insurance” excuse come from a rioter trying to justify his arson.
If the media were true journalists doing their job, they would have examined that claim the first time they heard it, but here we are with ONE story a good ten days later.
