Is Feudalism Our Future?
American Thinker.com ^ | August 30, 2020 | Clarice Feldman

It’s increasingly clear that one-party polities are corrupt, badly managed and serve the interests only of those at the top and their courtiers. I think that if Biden and Harris win, the entire country will devolve to a kingdom of state and regional duchies composed of often semi-hereditary rulers in the pay of the rich, donor class, the clerisy (media scribblers, complaisant judicial appointees and academic rent seekers who promote favored policies and shut out the dissenters), an impoverished, smaller, and powerless middle class and a vast layer of muzzled, docile poor serfs. They will rule by fiat (often inconsistently and illogically) as they have been in dealing with COVID-19. Because they can, the Constitution to the contrary notwithstanding.

In a lengthy essay, Michael Anton details why he thinks the leftist dream (which, in essence is a feudal form of tyranny) is within reach if Trump loses. I urge you all to read in its entirety this thoughtful article at your leisure. At best, I can only highlight some of the many salient points he makes.

Feudalism has always been the natural order of things. Our way of life, a small central government, a strong, independent middle class and a small, rich mercantile upper class has only been around in some form or another for about 400-500 years. A short time in the history of mankind. The rich and powerful want their world back.

The feudal serfs did not possess over a hundred million modern firearms and plenty of ammunition.

Any suggestions of modern "feudalism" are pure metaphor, since the original forms cannot possibly return:

The real determining factor in what political system you have, depends on how conflicts get resolved.

When it was a matter of which side could show up with the most men with swords, and the average man could afford a sword, then you could have Athenian democracy and the Roman Republic.

When professional fighters, wearing expensive armor, could defeat much larger groups of regular people, then you had the Roman Empire, and finally feudalism.

When cannon could knock down castle walls, the feudal barons had to obey their kings.

When rifles in the hands of common people could defeat professional armies, then you had the Republic of the United States.

Yes, this is the most important election— not just in American history—but in the history of the world. Germany, India, Greece, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, etc. etc all understand this. It is worldwide.

The future could be one of global government/corporate entities rather than old fashioned territorial kindgoms. Small business will be driven out and/or consumed by monopolies. Each monopoly will represent a neo-kingdom. The middle class will disappear as everyone is forced to either work for one of these monopolies or starve.

And you have no rights because - private companies, even though it is the government that forces you to enthrall yourself to one of the approved monopolies.

What a great potential future! Maybe we should fight for what little Liberty we still have now and avoid that whole distopian new world order.

I call them neo-feudalists. The “elite” left thinks the democracy thing is only a fad that will revert to the natural order of things.

Excellent. Replace the names of the leadership with communist terms and we have our new government.

I see no reason why that pyramid can not be reestablished in today’s world. In some countries it already exists. I would dare say NK, Fidel’s Cuba, any number of Arab Emirates and a few central American countries already have a social structure pretty close. Anyone who believes because we are special and unique among nations that we can’t descend into that is whistling pass the graveyard.

We’ve already effectively lost the right to free speech and freedom of assembly if you’re on the wrong side of what the moneyed elite allow. How many more years of indoctrination by our schools and media will it take before the majority of Americans gladly give up their freedoms for the promise of security and equity?

Anyone in your town wearing masks? Did your local churches hold Easter services? How about 4th of July fireworks, were they held this year? All these restrictions were done to ‘protect’ us. Some people complained, but almost all obeyed. Don’t believe for a second that the elites have not taken notice of how easily a majority did what they were told. Add to this that we now have DAs who will not prosecute rioters, but are eager to punish those who seek to protect themselves or their property, and you have a very volatile mix.

“The feudal serfs did not possess over a hundred million modern firearms and plenty of ammunition.”

They are doing their best to rectify this, every day.
