KENOSHA, Wis. lllinois police have arrested a 17-year-old after two people were shot to death and another was injured during another night of Black Lives Matter protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Kyle Rittenhouse, of Antioch, Illinois, was taken into custody Wednesday in Illinois on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide. Antioch is about 15 miles from Kenosha.
Two of the victims shot Tuesday night, a 26-year-old Silver Lake resident and a 36-year-old Kenosha resident, died following the shooting. A 26-year-old West Allis resident suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.
Videos circulating on social media show a young white man opening fire in the middle of the street with a semi-automatic rifle.
I dont need more guns on the street in the community when we are trying to make sure that we keep people safe. Law enforcement is trained. They are the ones who are responsible. They are the ones we have faith that theyll do their jobs to make sure it gets done, Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian said. It would be beneficial and helpful for everyone to realize that.
Wednesday afternoon, Kenosha Sheriff David Beth, police Chief Dan Miskinis, Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser and Mayor Antaramian gathered for a press conference to discuss the ongoing civil unrest and the shooting that happened Tuesday night.
Police said their investigation is ongoing, but police are working to have Rittenhouse transferred to Wisconsin so he can face criminal charges. According to Lake County, Illinois, court records, Rittenhouse has an extradition hearing scheduled for Friday.
What I cant tell you is what led to the disturbance that led to the use of deadly force by this person, and if both deaths are related to the same person, Miskinis said. I dont know that at this point.
The shooting was met with condemnation from political and community leaders alike.
Gov. Tony Evers said in a statement that he is grateful law enforcement officials have already made an arrest in connection to the killings.
A senseless tragedy like this cannot happen again. I again ask those who choose to exercise their First Amendment rights please do so peacefully and safely, as so many did last night, Evers said. I also ask the individuals who are not there to exercise those rights to please stay home and let local first responders, law enforcement, and members of the Wisconsin National Guard do their jobs.
Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul called for unity following the shooting, saying that anyone involved in violence and destruction is causing division in the community.
Kenosha residents deserve the opportunity to grieve, come together, peacefully protest, call for change, and heal. The heavily armed vigilantes, arsonists, and other opportunists who have come to Kenosha to attempt to spur chaos have interfered with that and caused drastic harm to people, Kaul said. If those engaging in violence and destruction of property believe they are furthering some broader goal, they are wrong. They should leave Kenosha.
Freedom Inc. a non-profit group based in Madison condemned the shooting in a statement shared Wednesday afternoon and called Rittenhouse a white supremacist.
These shootings, as well as the presence of white supremacist militias at uprisings for Black lives across the country, are designed to suppress Black people who are rightfully fighting back against generations of murder and exploitation by the state, the statement reads.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Kenosha County Sheriffs Department announced the emergency curfew in Kenosha would start at 7 p.m. each night beginning Wednesday and continuing through Sunday.
The county had previously enacted city curfews, including at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, the day Blake was shot by police. Then at 8 p.m. on Monday night and Tuesday night. The shooting during protests that took place Tuesday night happened after the citys 8 p.m. curfew.
“People under the age of 18 are allowed to use firearms in every state I know of. “
By law, in every state, somebody under 18 must be under supervision of an adult to be in possession of a firearm.
He is also not able to purchase one.
Interesting.......
I do hear that Trump has huge Hispanic/Latino support.
And they are saying that even among black men, his support is going way up.
This is going to be very interesting.
Much as the dems will try to cheat Biden into office, they may be vastly underestimating what it’s going to take to do so.
Dear God, Please blind the democrats and confuse their counsels. Please expose voter fraud and give us an honest election.
AMEN!!!
You slinky fox.
When is your next open date for musky fishing at Lac Courte Oreilles? I’ll bring the potato chips, you bring the beer and fishing prayers.
Fail.
There are exceptions.
That was an initiative pushed for by the Clinton Administration, about 1996, as I recall.
It might have been linked to federal funds.
Some states it is more enforced than others.
Not enforced in Alaska, as I understand it.
I thought the media never published names of youths charged with crimes. In this case I guess its okay, though. sheesh
No, unless he has an FOID which requires partental permission and acceptance of liability. Nor in WI unless he’s hunting. And since he couldn’t purchase one legally, the rifle’s owner has a potential problem.
Never bring a skateboard to a gun fight.

Not true for New Hampshire, except for pistols.
I just tried to donate to this site and it said that donations are not being accepted at this time. I wonder....
I heard there is a gofundme started for him.
As I was watching the video I noticed how close the houses were to the street. They only have a sidewalk and a few feet of grass right up to their house. I wondered how people felt in their homes? Did they have to abandon their homes especially if they have children living there? Did the trouble makers even care about the trouble they were bringing right up to the doors of the residents of Kenosha.
The whole nation was witness to that in St. Louis.
You guys are right.
Some states don’t even have minimum age requirements for possession of a rifle. There is no federal minimum.
In Wisconsin it is 18.
In Illinois it is 21.
So if he didn’t steal it, somebody committed a felony transferring it to him.
Not necessarily. Allowing someone to use a firearm is not the same as transferring it to them in most states.
Here is what the government of Wisconsin says about the topic:
Persons under age 18 may not possess firearms for non-hunting purposes unless accompanied by an adult, except that persons ages 1417 who have completed Hunter Education can possess legal shotguns and rifles without being accompanied by an adult.
If one of the other people defending the car dealership was an adult, then nothing about Rittenhouse's possession of a rifle was illegal. If Rittenhouse took the Wisconsin hunter education course the same thing is true.
Think they may have killed this one too. Trying to load it. What happens to donations if they cancel?
These two postings have a number of video clips
