“Blood from people who recover from coronavirus could provide a treatment,” reported the Washington Post on March 27, just a couple weeks after the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic.
Just over a week later, the Washington Post reported again that while there was no vaccine yet for COVID-19, “we do have one potentially promising treatment to help people infected with the coronavirus: infusions of antibody-rich plasma from other patients who have had the disease and recovered.”
A couple months later, the Washington Post again touted the potential of blood plasma, also called convalescent plasma, in treating the virus. “A large study of 20,000 hospitalized covid-19 patients who received transfusions of blood plasma from people who recovered found the treatment was safe and suggests giving it to people early in the disease may be beneficial,” they reported June 18, 2020, in an article headlined, “Blood plasma from people who recovered is a safe covid-19 treatment, study says.”
Earlier this month, four former FDA commissioners wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post arguing that “blood plasma might be the COVID-19 treatment we need.”
Flash forward Trump’s announcement that a breakthrough treatment for the coronavirus, convalescent plasma, had been given emergency approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). According to FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn, plasma treatments reduce mortality of COVID-19 by 35 percent, but, suddenly, the Washington Post isn’t very impressed by blood plasma as a COVID-19 treatment anymore.
“Scientists express doubts about coronavirus treatment touted as breakthrough by Trump” reads the headline on their live updates page Monday afternoon.

The Food and Drug Administrations decision to give emergency authorization for convalescent plasma as a treatment for novel coronavirus patients touted as a historic breakthrough by President Trump on Sunday is raising doubts among some experts who say the therapy hasnt been adequately tested.
The urgency of the crisis has elided with a false sense we should skip over rigorous studies of interventions because we dont have enough time, Peter Bach, director of Memorial Sloan Ketterings Center for Health Policy and Outcomes, told The Washington Post.
Gee, I wonder why they suddenly had a change of heart.
Michael Caputo, the Health and Human Services Department Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, noted the sudden change in attitude by the Washington Post on Twitter:
Wait @washingtonpost what happened here? pic.twitter.com/TUgTVOSypV

It’s hydroxychlorquine all over again. Hydroxychloroquine has been proven by many studies to reduce mortality of COVID-19, but it’s not being widely used as a treatment in the United States because the media immediately trashed the drug when Trump touted it as a potential gamechanger in the fight against the coronavirus.
Is this really how it’s going to go every time? The media and the Democratic Party demonized hydroxychloroquine immediately after Trump suggested it could be a gamechanger. Countries that are widely using the drug have lower death rates from COVID-19 than those that aren’t. The left’s fear campaign has cost likely thousands of lives but they don’t care because the worse the United States’ death count looks the better chances there are that Trump won’t get reelected.
Ping as per your request
Trump knew what the reaction would be, he has something up his sleeve here.
Maybe Trump should really piss them off by floating the Idea of an Executive Order granting Registered Republicans a Right to purchase and receive HCQ+AZT+Zinc without a Prescription from anywhere they choose.
I can’t believe some things, and never will.
But because Trump says something about a treatment for a disease, then the liberal view becomes, it is not a legitimate treatment.
If Obama were still president, and had recommended HCQ, he would be up for the Nobel prize in medicine for his insight into the use of that medication against the virus.
But because Trump had mentioned it as helpful, the liberal and media view became that HCQ was dangerous.
The same may well happen here. B.I.T., Because It’s Trump, the liberal view MUST be that this medication will not work.
It's now Pravda On The Potomac...
Anecdotally alive is no way to live I guess.
FDA scientists are chopped liver? Never mind.
Can the press be an accessory to reckless endangerment or negligent homicide?
And I guarantee if there is a vaccine in the next couple months, the Washington Post will find the one person who has an allergic reaction or someone who just happened to drop dead of a heart attack the day after receiving it and scream, “Trump is killing us with his rushed and ineffective vaccine. We need that medical genius Joe Biden in there who will listen to the “the science”
I knew that would happen. The leftist media is truly without any redeeming factors.
Ivermectin is an inhibitor of the COVID-19 causative virus (SARS-CoV-2).
A single treatment able to effect ~5000-fold reduction in virus at 48 hours.
Ivermectin is widely available, due to its inclusion on the WHO model list of essential medicines.
This may be even better than convalescent plasma treatment or even HCQ-Zinc-azithromycin, given early and in a timely manner.
I get your point about Ivermectin.
The point is we already have MANY EFFECTIVE TREATMENTS for Covid-19. That government bureaucrats are standing in the way of widespread use is the tragedy.
The virus is real.
But the world’s reaction to the virus is definitely a rigged game. There is evil at work.
The fact that goobercrats are preventing these things from being "given early and in a timely manner" is proof enough that they're deliberately killing people.
“There is evil at work.”

Thanks.
These hacks are too predictable!
HCQ works!
Blood Plasma treatment can work!
I know a guy, late 50’s got COVID in mid July. He wasn’t looking good but he got this plasma treatment and started to show improvement. He was discharged from the hospital on 8/8 and is slowly getting back to normal.
I’m thinking this works.
Democrats are still saying that taking drugs that haven’t “been adequately tested”
but, have good anecdotal success is worse than dying.
