Aug. 25, 2020 – The Calcasieu Parish Executive Policy Group has issued a Mandatory Evacuation, effective immediately, for Calcasieu Parish residents due to the anticipated effects of Hurricane Laura.

Laura is expected to make landfall late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning as a Category 3 hurricane, with winds higher than 100 mph and storm surges of 9-13 feet.

In addition, a dusk-to-dawn (7 p.m.-6 a.m.) curfew has been established beginning Wednesday until it is deemed safe to lift it. The curfew affects all residents, except those who are considered essential personnel. Essential employees should have their work IDs with them at all times.

The residents of Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes are good people. Have visited there many times over the years. They know what they need to do and they assist each other.

Damn... that’s not a good sign at all.

Tide is building now too. Low tide was 10:18. High Tide will be 5 am tonight.

Could be a rough surge, with this quick drop in pressure.

Not sure if this storm gets there but NHC predicting 145mph at landfall.

Prayers for everyone in the storm’s path, including those well inland. Shape of storm and strength have conditions ns to produce tornados up the ting-yang.

Does anyone know if there is much refinery capacity, if there is any, within the heart of the strike zone?

I know Lake Charles has a boatload of refineries, and they will probably get slammed the hardest by Laura.

Pretty sure Port Arthur has some as well.
