That's easier said than done. Affluent society enjoys entertainment, including sports. There is a lot of gambling money at sake.
As long as the society remain affluent, sports will remain popular and athletes well paid.
The wokeness of the NBA and NFL might result in a shift by many to other sports or venues of entertainment. It's unlikely, though, you're going to see athletes in either playing for pocket change unless there is an economic depression.
They NFL can’t breathe! ;)
I went with one of my brothers who was a commercial pilot and one of his friends-an Oneida Indian we called Chief Oshkosh who flew P47s during WW2.
Anyway, we walked around looking at all the WW2 aircraft. Chief got himself half a snoot full-beer, and started talking about getting into one of the P47s and taking off.
We got him to hell out of there. He was actually that nuts and would have tried it.
That was the late 60s or early 70s..
NFL + BLM = DOA
Theyll play it, but no fans will be in the stands to hear it, and it wont be played on TV. That time is too valuable for commercials.
Thats how cynical and hypocritical Roger Goodell is.
Its going to be a lot harder to blame the low television ratings on Covid...
Who is paying the NFL to give the finger to its fan base?

The NFL Players Assoc., which is dominated by black players and leaders.
It’s like schools making decisions about curriculum subject matters based on what is demanded by teachers’ unions.
Hey, if they want to become the WNBA, who are we to stop them?
They are now known as the Washington Engines.
get woke go broke.
Hey N.F.L., M.L.B., N.B.A., Goodyear, ETC.
Get woke, f-you, go broke.
Packers are the only NFL team that is owned by stockholders ...not just one or two persons.. Always has been.
