Despite Donald Trumps attempts to quash "Youve Been Trumped Too", my film will finally be available to all Americans this week after a four-year legal battle. There could hardly be a more urgent or relevant film than this, wrote one of Britains leading reviewers, astonished by the revelations in the documentary. At long last Americans can finally decide for themselves.
The muzzling of "Youve Been Trumped Too" is a warning that the free speech we take for granted, especially in the United States, is always vulnerable to suppression by the rich and powerful. Though "Youve Been Trumped Too" was completely cleared by libel lawyers on both sides of the Atlantic, just the threat of court action by the Trump Organization put a chill through distributors, publicists, and media organizations that are normally champions of free speech.
The saga is just the latest chapter in my own 10-year journey of trying to hold Donald Trump to account for his actions. As a former BBC journalist, I took it as a compliment when a New York Times reviewer commented that I cant be brushed off. But it has also meant becoming caught up in the presidents Twitter storms, fending off legal threats at every turn, and being the subject of a violent arrest by a police force which bent to Donald Trumps tune.
It all started when I picked up my camera in 2010 to attend a news conference organized by the Trump Organization on the pristine sand dunes in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, about an hours drive from my home. As a lone for-hire bagpiper played and the trill sound rang out, a fleet of Range Rovers zoomed up to a marquee and Trump stepped outblack shoes gleaming, his hair challenged by the northeasterly wind.

The claims of massive economic benefits, which never materialized, had persuaded the Scottish government to ignore their own environmental laws and allow Trump to destroy one of the last stretches of natural coastline in Britain.
In the media scrum after the reception, I asked Donald Trump about Michael Forbes, a local farmer and fishermanand the most prominent of the local residents who continued to protest against the development.
He lives like a pig, Trump told me. Hes got stuff strewn all over the place.
After the cameras had left, I made my first visit to the Forbes farm, reached by way of a dirt track a mile from where the press conference had been held. Instead of a pigsty, there were the usual barns, tractors and farmhouse, as well as a quaint and cozy caravan where 92-year-old Molly ForbesMichaels motherlived, still raising chickens and cultivating her vegetable garden. Inviting me in for a cup of tea, Molly told me that she was using water from a nearby stream, as Trumps cut us off. She told me Trumps construction workers had severed a pipe from a water well leading to their farm. According to Molly, promises to fix the problem had come up empty.
Who the hell cares? Foreigners need to butt out of our elections.
Naysayers are coming out of the woodwork!
Its an election, doncha know?
Sorry to break it to you snowflake. Nobody but the scum media would even blink an eye at this dispute of two private citizens at the time - based on only your characterization of it
Yea, but what does that have to do with Biden screwing another man’s wife, causing a divorce, and then marrying the bimbo? You are right, absolutely nothing, just like this arrogant asses law suits...
Sounds like all complaints should be sent to the Scottish government. They approved the work.
The Daily Beast and YAHOO News...Two very esteemed publications....ROFL....
It’s a well...”leading to her farm”. Something doesn’t quite jive in my gut.
It seems their complaint is with the government of Scotland, not Donald Trump. They’re the ones who made the decision to give up the land.
Michael Forbes, owner of the land Trump planned to build his golf course, attracted media attention in the United States for standing up to Trump.
Forbes has insisted that he will “never sell” his land to Trump despite being offered a payment of £450,000 in addition to a salary of £50,000 per year for an unspecified job.
The plans to build the golf complex were rejected in late November 2007 by Aberdeenshire Council but were later called in by the Scottish Government, who gave approval in November 2008.
In August 2011, contractors hired by Trump fenced off a piece of land belonging to Forbes despite Forbes having the title deeds.

Five years after the pipe supplying water to Molly Forbes house was broken, and against a backdrop of empty promises from Trump International, it took Mollys son Michael - earlier branded by Trump as an animal who lived like a pig for his own efforts to hold his organisation to account on behalf of his mother to personally restore her water supply.
Taking the matter into his own hands, and risking arrest, he digs up the broken pipe, which he finds clogged with stones and riddled with holes allowing sludge from the road to contaminate the water supply and repairs it.
He immediately receives a letter from the Trump organisation accusing him of hostile communications.
Of course, the Trump Organisation claimed they already had sorted the water supply the chief greenkeeper said it was going to be the best water system they ever had but its just not true, says Baxter now.
For years the Forbes struggled and if anyone dared raise it or report on it the Trump Organisation threatened to sue, even though it was the case that that was the truth of what they were going through.
Nothing they say will change the facts and its deeply disturbing she had to live in that situation for so long where it was indeed a simple thing to rectify. Its astonishing how they have coped - theyre an inspiring example of resilience and determination.
In 2016 when news of this film was made public a spokeswoman for the Trump Organisation said this: Five years ago, an unknown, underground clay pipe was unintentionally disrupted by our lead contractor and was repaired immediately.
‘The neighbour who shares the well with Forbes can attest that his water supply was only temporary affected and rectified fully within a few days. Over the years, Forbes has personally dug up his well, dislodged and broken pipes and subsequently blamed the company.
‘Last year, in an effort to be neighbourly and whilst we were under no obligation to do so, we offered to connect both properties to our mains water system.
‘Due to Forbes unreasonable behaviour and unwillingness to take responsibility for the ongoing servicing of their well, Forbes neighbour opted to be connected to our mains water. Mr and Mrs Forbes rejected our offer to be connected to mains water.
Baxter says the Trump Organisation did offer to connect them to the mains supply and Molly Forbes and Michael rejected this because they would then have to pay water rates, they liked their well water as it was and they didnt trust them.

Wait...the Left is arguing they’ve been victims of censorship? Sorry, they’ve been the instigators of it far more than the recipients.
No. Nothing makes sense.
OK, here’s the bottom line:
Trump’s organization wanted to build a golf course in Scotland but needed land to do it.
He offered 450,000 euros to the family who owned a huge tract land that his gold course wanted to use, plus 50,000 euros a year for some unspecified job to the family, Michael Forbes.
The Forbes family refused to sell. Trump’s organization used their clout in the Scottish government which decided in favor of Trump. Trump, in an interview, disparaged the Forbes farm, calling it a pig sty.
The Forbes family fought Trump but did not win. The Trump organization built their golf course which inadvertedly cut off the water supply to the well that the Forbes family were using, including the one their 92 year old matriarch had been using for years.
The rest is posted on Post #11 above.
Gee. A ten-year-old complaint by ONE PERSON (overseas) about a “possible” (alleged in the term used if the charge is against a democrat) construction damage of ONE pipe at ONE site in Scotland.
bkmk
Read what the neighbor that shares the well says.
Indded
OK, Karen.
“...The neighbour who shares the well with Forbes can attest that his water supply was only temporary affected and rectified fully within a few days. Over the years, Forbes has personally dug up his well, dislodged and broken pipes and subsequently blamed the company....”
What say you to this?????
