(WXYZ) — The FDA denied Henry Ford Health System's request for an emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine for a segment of COVID-19 patients.
In a statement, Henry Ford said the decision does not impact the ongoing study that investigates hydroxychloroquine as a preventative treatment.
"At the same time, we remain focused on advancing efforts to develop a safe and effective vaccine against COVID-19," Henry Ford said. "We are the only site in Michigan enrolling volunteers in the phase 3 trial of the Moderna mRNA-1273 Coronavirus vaccine and evaluating its promise as a vaccine candidate. We continue to believe that a safe and effective vaccine is the best way to protect people from this devastating virus."
Dr. Anthony Fauci previously called the study on the effectiveness of using hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19 "flawed" during testimony in front of a House subcommittee.
In response, doctors at Henry Ford Health System penned an open letter, saying the current political climate has made any discussion of the drug impossible.

Hydroxychloroquine protocol has been so weaponized/politicized, I suspect the FDA has been threatened by some elected in our government...denying a preventative rather than save a life is politically more important...
Do you know whether the advocates say that just using hydroxy with zinc sulfate will be beneficial, even if the patient can’t get hold of zpack? So the patient would be taking hqc and zinc, but not azythromycin?

This medicine has been in use for half a century, it is well known pill, cheap, and plentiful. With a precautionary antibiotic and zinc pills for adsorption, it has proven effective against Co-V in several large clinical trials and thousands of regular patients. Furthermore, it is a current primary medical treatment of choice for Co-V in a number of countries including Spain and Italy (where it is credited for reversing the spread of this virus), Brasil, Mexico, France, Germany, UK, China, Canada, Japan, etc. Finally, the much-ballyhood heart arythmia, etc. issues only occur in 0.001 to 0.1 percent of patients, making this treatment plan one of the safest known medical treatments for any infection , safer than most OTC meds, and still it is still taken under medical supervision anyway.

It seems that CV deaths began going up about the time the FDA and state pharmacy agencies started cracking down on HCQ. A remember a doctor in Texas claiming she could no longer get HCQ for corona virus treatment, and that’s about when CV deaths in Texas started to spike.
