That makes sense, unfortunately 😑.
I’ll buy that Clinton started the downhill ball rolling. Bushes didn’t help either with the likes of Colon Powell.

Correct, ignoring the Constitutional requirement for a natural born citizen naturally has had bad consequences.
PJ O'Rourke has a good start on it.
Retired USAF Senior NCO. These woke leftist officers ARE full of crap. Hopefully there arent that many of them. None of the retired officers I know, are like these woke officers, including my USAF commissioned officer son.
Most of them were students in universities. I saw in person, that most university instructors were counterculture communists during the 1980s, even in schools in the middle of the Midwest.
“Id like to hear from some retired upper enlisted like myself.”
Retired in 1995 and went, ultimately, to DOD (Pentagon). I know you know this, so this is for civilians far more than anyone else: as a rule, officers must have a degree in something to qualify. I, also, know, that senior enlisted must be in that direction also. If you just retired within the last 10 years, that means you were going through the education system somewhere between 1970 and 1990. But probably after 1960.
Starting in the late 60’s, the theology of education transferred from teaching reading, writing, and ‘rithmatic, to implanting life skills and theologies on current events, as presented by the system. The teachers started becoming parents and literally demanded the right to direct traffic in the childrens’ minds of the parents over them.
We have now gone through three generations of this type of assembly line education where each “sprocket” is programmed to act in a certain manner and interpret the same as the next one on the line. Henry Ford would have been proud.
So as they are being bombarded with liberal impiety on topics they are not prepared for, so much of it sticks that it becomes a go to in later life as an answer for everything...right or wrong.
The late two generations of officers, and also enlisted, are a product of this. And as long as it perpetuates, it will never heal to having leaders that are slowly being programmed into stupidity especially on the common sense side. And I feel the worst is yet to come with people like Harris, Ocasio-Cortez, Cory Bush under the teachings of Saul Alinsky and Michael Harrington starting to get their voice into the heads of people that use those thoughts advantageously for self interests, even at the level of looting.
The officers and enlisted are no different than the above. (Just paid less).

I dont know, defense contractors maybe? 😁
Are you certain it was their boots they were licking?
So, has America reached a critical mass of these school-indoctrinated leftist-socialists?
the outright politicization of the military started under Clinton and really went into overdrive under 0bama. That’s why so many of these “officers” including “generals” are going public with the leftist fantasies.
Point conceded. Lol
Well, they started with licking the boots, then worked their way up ......
I retired in 2013 after 27 years. I used to give everyone in my platoon a pocket copy of the US Constitution. I told them they should read and understand it because that is what we’ve sworn to defend.
I asked several other upper enlisted what they would do if ordered to confiscate weapons from civilians. All said they would refuse.
The officers I grew up under were all Korean and Viet Nam vets, with quite a few still around that had WWII service as well. Today's officers grew up under officers that had none of that experience. They are more about political correctness and not offending their jihadi enemies.
They all take an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, but few know what's in the Constitution. I don't know of any of the officer basic or advanced courses that mention the Constitution...likewise the Command and Staff or Senior Service Colleges. Their constitutional knowledge for the most part is limited to what they've learned from the media...which would be nothing.
“All said they would refuse.”
Problem there is not in their answer, but in the question. If they were being ordered to relieve civilians (insurgents), and failed to carry out that order we talk article 92. If they were ordered to just go house to house and take weapons, that’s an unlawful order. The federal military cannot be used as a police force against American citizens unless they are starting a conflict threatening US sovereignty which alleviates their privilege of citizenry, i.e., terrorist attacks against the US. But unless there is a direct attack then it is the responsibility of the local law. And that’s one of the reasons we are having so many problems right now is the failure of the local law to do their job so in the end, they will have to pay for, and borrow the use of, national guard. Which they have shown they are not going to do as they, obviously in my mind, are using the unrest for votes. No other reason as they are putting their political positions on the line this way. Scorch earth and hope someone else gets tossed under the bus.

I hear you and agree. While I was in Air Force during the 60’s I had the distinct once in a lifetime honor of serving with a number of WW2 vets all the way from 2 stars down to E6’s. What a fine group of REAL Americans they were. Most were air crew members of one sort or another ranging from pilots to radio operators. I would have followed those generals and colonels into the jaws of whatever. Can’t say the same for the recent (last 20-30) years. I think Norman Scwartzkopf was about the last of that type.
