If President Donald Trump delivers his nomination address at Gettysburg National Military Park, it could involve an outdoor crowd of no more than 250 the state-imposed limit due to the pandemic.
The Gov. Tom Wolf administration late Monday responded to the possibility of Trump coming to Gettysburg to deliver his address following his formal nomination as the Republican presidential candidate on Aug. 27.
Trump announced on Twitter on Monday afternoon he is considering delivering the address at Gettysburg. He said its been narrowed down to two possible locations, with the White House being the other.
He wrote We will announce the decision soon!
A spokesman for the military park and Eisenhower National Historic Site on Monday afternoon said he didnt have details on things such as what the address would entail in terms of number of people involved, whether it would be open to the public and whether any special permission is required.
Trumps campaign didnt immediately respond to questions.
The Wolf administrations statement noted the park is managed by the National Park Service. But it said all gatherings in Pennsylvania, including those held on federal land, should abide by the Commonwealths restrictions, which have proven to mitigate COVID-19.
It said limitations on large gatherings and requiring face masks in public places has allowed Pennsylvania to escape the severe COVID-19 resurgences happening in many states.
We hope and expect that the President will abide by these commonsense restrictions that will protect the health and safety of the community around Gettysburg and throughout Pennsylvania, the statement said.
Kennedy Center is private .... and it’s closed.
How is it disrespectful? I think Trump would be bringing a message of unity.
Truman, in 1951, allowed Confederate soldiers to get VA grave markers, and Eisenhower continued this and defended it as part of national reconcilaton.
I think Gettysburg is absolutely the best place he could have it.
😁👍

;D
That pic literally made me jump with fright. I thought that Cuomo was the ugliest person in politics but, obviously, I was wrong. So wrong.
How can anyone in PA take Wolf seriously? He obviously has some screws loose to even contemplate appointing that “thing” to any official position.
My condolences to the sane citizens of PA who are forced to look at that freak on television.
And your post about him operating on himself in a hospital bathroom is disturbing beyond belief. He sounds positively psycho.
Lincoln gives speech at Gettysburg, reelected, goes to theater
History
Wish like hell I could be there, unfortunately I live here in COMMIEFORNIA-AKA-MEXIFORNIA.
Just a little to far for these old bones to drive, and I’ll be damned if I would fly on any commie airline.
The park is federal land. The roads leading into the park are state land. Wolf can try blocking the entrances.
No one is more devoted to Trump than I am, but this is a mistake. Gettysburg is a tiny village. It has only a few narrow two-land roads. The hotel accommodations are limited. There are just a few restaurants. And most important, the whole place is a gigantic graveyard. None of it should be carelessly trampled. Thousands are buried there. It should be approached with reverence, not triumph and glee. No, Mr President, go somewhere else. This is holy ground.
Want to try for another civil war comrade Wolf. The last time my family fought at Gettysburg we won. This time we will be fighting WITH the South and will win again!
Yes, and that politician's speech was dedicating the soldier's cemetery. Quite a bit different than the speech contemplated being delivered there now.
Truman, in 1951, allowed Confederate soldiers to get VA grave markers, and Eisenhower continued this and defended it as part of national reconcilaton.
Those were not political events.
Giving an acceptance?speech after being formally nominated for President is a political event.
From my perspective, no such events should take place on what is essentially sacred ground where American soldiers fought and died in a civil war.
+. I agree - strongly.
Wolf!!GFY!
Ditto...
We’re in another civil war.
Gettysburg is a fitting place for the speech.
It wasnt viewed as such at the time by said politicians political opponents.
That's understandable given that Copperheads were still actively seeking to sue for peace, and there was the pressure from Democrats leading up to the election.
However, time has passed and how we now view and conduct ourselves at Gettysburg National Military Park will say a lot about us and how we honor our war dead.
For me, there should be no such speech given on that site by a sitting President or presidential candidate. We're never going to agree on that point - and that's okay.
Cram it down his piehole, Mr. President.
