If it’s a CNN article, then it must be true. /sarc

Election day is 85 days away. There is no way it will be done by then and there never was any chance there would be. Late this year or early next year would be record time so shoot for that.

This looks like it might be the vaccineSafety and immunogenicity of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine against SARS-CoV-2: a preliminary report of a phase 1/2, single-blind, randomised controlled trial

Seems to kill the Wuhan and work as a vaccine - perhaps this is very good news

I know someone who works at Lonza.
They were contracted by Moderna to actually produce the vaccine at their facility in Portsmouth, NH.

ALL other projects are second to the production of the Maderna Vaccine both here and at their sister facility in the UK.
However, it takes time to actually manufacture(grow) the vaccine. They need certain materials to actually make it. Some of those materials are in short supply because of supply chain disruptions around the world.

This is similar to the fact that the three stores I went to on Friday were all out of Tilex Mildew bathroom cleaner. All three said that they reorder every other day. That their suppliers were all out of it.

This same type of supply chain issue is part of what I am being told is holding up production of some drugs/vaccines.

"Neutralising antibody responses against SARS-CoV-2 were detected in 32 (91%) of 35 participants after a single dose when measured in MNA80 and in 35 (100%) participants when measured in PRNT50. After a booster dose, all participants had neutralising activity (nine of nine in MNA80 at day 42 and ten of ten in Marburg VN on day 56). Neutralising antibody responses correlated strongly with antibody levels measured by ELISA (R2=0·67 by Marburg VN; p<0·001).

Interpretation

ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 showed an acceptable safety profile, and homologous boosting increased antibody responses. These results, together with the induction of both humoral and cellular immune responses, support large-scale evaluation of this candidate vaccine in an ongoing phase 3 programme."

Very good news

The liberal Doctor that CBS uses says otherwise, and yes I was surprised that he admitted we could have a vaccine by November 1st.

The common cold is a corona virus. No successful vaccines created after decades of trying. Any successful corona virus vaccine would be a first of it's kind. IMHO, it ain't gonna happen; not this year, not next year, not in my lifetime.

My son receives his first Moderna shot on August 11th. He will get his second shot 28 days later.

My wife and I both got the Pfizer Phase 3 shots recently. We wait 21 days before getting the second shot. I think my wife received the vaccine because she had chills, fatigue and a fever (99.5) shortly afterwards. I had no symptoms, so I think I got the placebo.

Pfizer and Moderna are neck and neck in the race for an approved vaccine. I think it can happen before the election. AstraZeneca is in the lead though. I understand AstraZeneca will be starting a large scale Phase 3 trial in the US, but they have already been doing a large scale study in the UK. If the FDA will approve AstraZeneca based on the UK study without having to complete a US Phase 3 study, then AstraZeneca will likely have the first approved vaccine.

Here is where things get tricky for the clinical studies. When we received the Pfizer first shot, we ask the “supervisor” what happens to everyone who got a placebo if a vaccine by another company gets approved. The supervisor said everyone who got the placebo would be notified so they could quit the study and go get vaccinated. Well, this presents a problem for every study in progress after another company gets approved. How can they complete their study if their placebo patients all quit and go get vaccinated?

For example, if AstraZeneca gets a vaccine approved first and all the Pfizer placebo patients quit the study and get the AstraZeneca vaccine, how can Pfizer complete their study? Interesting dilemmia.

Yep - good to see someone got the gist - Trump enabled faster than ever before development efforts but he isn’t responsible for a vaccine - they just need to blame him for everything they can, even as they try to slow the process down...TDS is a serious illness.
