Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. is taking an indefinite leave of absence, the university said on Friday.
In a brief statement, the Executive Committee of Libertys board of trustees said met with Falwell on Friday and made its request, to which he has agreed, effective immediately.
The one-sentence statement did not provide a reason for Falwells departure from the post hes held since the death of his father, famed evangelist Jerry Falwell, more than a decade ago. Falwell has also been a close friend and spiritual adviser to President Donald Trump.
His departure marks a dramatic end to a week of controversy that started Sunday evening when a Houston Chronicle reporter posted photos that Falwell had shared, then deleted, on his public Instagram account. In one photo, Falwell is seen with his stomach exposed and pants zipper undone next to a pregnant woman who he later clarified was his wifes assistant.

Falwell Jr is a lawyer and an University administrator but not a pastor. He’s still supposed to be a role model though.
Take your head out of the sand. The Left will always hold us to our standards. Fallwell Jr. knew that although whatever was in that "black water" he was drinking may have clouded his judgement.
That photo has been cleaned up. The bed isn’t the only thing that can’t be seen in that version.
Is that lighter spot on is finger where a wedding ring used to be?
“There is no righteous explanation for a married man to pose for such a picture with a woman that is not his wife.”
Exactly
Hope learned his lesson. Low heat.
When I was a senior in ROTC, the year leading up to our commissioning, one of our cadre was an old grizzled Master Sergeant who wore the First Cavalry combat patch from Viet Nam. Although he was under no regulatory or even customary obligation to do so, he would call all fourth year cadets, "Sir," or "Ma'am". I asked him why he did so, and he explained, that in less than a year, we would be commissioned officers, and expected to live our lives to a higher standard.
One thing he told me that still sticks with me going on 30 years later is, "Sir, as a leader, you live in a fishbowl." When you are in a position of authority, EVERYTHING you do will be examined by those in your charge. Your technical competence, ethics, the way you interact with those above you, your humanity, your sense of humor, the way you deal with stress and fear, your conduct off duty as well as on duty, etc. EVERYTHING will be under a microscope.
I have not lived a perfect life by any stretch, but that notion that I live in a fishbowl has certainly helped me steer clear of a lot of trouble I would have otherwise found myself in.
“I dont get it. Whats the problem?”
******************************
The problem is that Falwell’s Liberty University has a strict code of conduct for students that requires they be disciplined or even expelled if they dared to post such a photo on social media.
Thank you,now I get it. The photo suggests the conversation that preceded. Old men with pot bellies look pregnant and undoing the top button after a big meal which occur 100s of thousands of times all across America but Baptists are what they are. (Baylor)
Yes. That’s my take as well.
Yes, she thinks it’s harmless as well. I’ve spoken with “someone on the inside,” and it’s just goofy fun. That said, he should not have shared that photo ... for reasons that are obvious.
Agreed. Those who are eager to “cancel” this man have no sense of humor, and are easily triggered by the left to destroy good people who goof up.
Because she’s pregnant. Context ...
