Actor Ryan Reynolds says he and his wife Blake Lively will always be deeply and unreservedly sorry for holding their wedding at a former plantation in South Carolina.
Reynolds discussed his shame over the 2012 wedding at Boone Hall in Charleston County in an interview posted by Fast Company Tuesday.
Its something well always be deeply and unreservedly sorry for, he said. Its impossible to reconcile. What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy.
The Deadpool actor said a mistake like that can either cause you to shut down or it can reframe things and move you into action.
The couple donated $200,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund in May as the Black Lives Matter movement grew in prominence following George Floyds death in Minneapolis police custody.
Last year, the couple reportedly donated $1 million to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and the Young Center for Immigrant Childrens Rights, according to Fast Company.

I guess the next virtue signal will be not getting married in a former Confederate state.
What about Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, and Delaware? Aren’t they just as bad, if not worse? /s /s /s
Virtue Signal received...
That’s a good flick.
I love the one Charlestown quote.
I’m proud to be from Charlestown.
I mean it ruined my life, but I’m proud to be from there.
Today’s word of the day..groveling..its what apparently those two idiots do best..groveling to the mob..guess they dont want their house firebombed
Ryan gosling. Different.
Its a freaking building. These people are nuts. I thought Reynolds might have an ounce of common sense, but nope!
So what is the difference between this and rich people buying indulgences in the Middle Ages?
Please tell me they will not reproduce.
That’s OK. Like most Hollywood degenerates, pretty soon they’ll apologize for being married at all.
The William T. Sherman school of virtue signalling?
So they got married 8 years ago at a scenic plantation that makes money by renting out the location. The slaves that lived there and no doubt helped to build it are long gone, as are their children and likely their grandchildren. Who is hurt by him and his bride being married in a beautiful setting? No slaves were inconvenienced by his wedding.
But, hey, if he wants to feel ‘deeply and unreservedly sorry’, I guess that’s his call. As for his contributions to the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, doesn’t that tend to harm American citizens descended from slaves and free blacks?
If they’re really THAT sorry while don’t they annul their marriage?
They could have another wedding right on the BLM “mural” in NYC.
He wiggered out on this topic, didn’t he?
Oh come on! I know a young couple who held their wedding at one of these places and it was lovely. Repurposing a building does not make one a racist.
Ryan Reynolds is Canadian which is sort of doubling-down on the insult.
They have two kids.
