The Democrat party line, I believe, is that “natural born citizen” has absolutely no special meaning and has nothing to do with parents. It’s like an anchor baby. If the kid is born on US soil, they can be president.

Having been involved in this issue for many years and having argued a few Con Law cases, I can't resist commenting here.
Like ClearCase, I wish the law were as set out by American Thinker--but I doubt the Supreme Court as presently constituted would come down there.
If the Court as presently constituted gets to Kamala Harris, it will come down 6-3 that she is Natural Born under the 14th Amendment. If you got John Roberts and Sonya Sotomayor off the Court, you might get a different result--but even there, it is most likely she would be held eligible.

My belief is that to be a Natural Born Citizen, a person must be born on US soil to parents who are US citizens. There should be no question of mixed loyalties, dual citizenships, etc.
I think it is BS that pretty much "anybody" can be president. Harris doesn't qualify, IMO.

I’d prefer warren because I think her manic affect won’t appeal beyond the look base, but I’ve been predicting Harris since the beginning of last year. She’s already been gravitased-up by the media and doesn’t have some of the baggage like the one who looks and comes off like nurse Rathchitt, or and out and out communist, or ugly swinish woman who shall not be named here, etc. and she’s vaguely the right color.

Simply being born here does not make one a natural born citizen.
The children of foreigners inherit the citizenship(s) of their parent(s) country(ies).
Natural born citizens are NATURALLY citizens because there is no alternative, they could not be anything else.
Anyone born with more than ONE nationality is NOT naturally an American.

ANYTHING McCain did or did not do about it would become a political football! No action would be free of the taint of being done out of love for his place of birth, anything he didn't do would be over-compensation for trying to avoid the appearance of sentimental favoritism.

The term natural born citizen is apparently not self defining. It should be given a definite legal meaning by legislation.
