Herman Cain, the former Republican presidential candidate and affable business magnate, died Thursday after being hospitalized for coronavirus, according to reports.
Cain, 74, first went to an Atlanta hospital for treatment on July 1, his staff had said.
His death was announced on Herman Cain's website and Facebook page.
"Herman Cain – our boss, our friend, like a father to so many of us – has passed away," the statement on his website said, noting there were "hopeful indicators" in recent days that he'd recover but adding: "And yet we also felt real concern about the fact that he never quite seemed to get to the point where the doctors could advance him to the recovery phase."

In an absence of evidence, the default is to assume it is negative. It has been reported Cain was admitted to hospital a month ago for respiratory issues. There have been no reports I am aware of yet that indicates he had a relapse of his cancer.
In that situation the news would be covid contributed to his death. Fake news would be to claim cancer killed him until based on internet speculation at this point.

How would I know the details of Mr. Cain’s hospital treatment? If you think that I am privy to that information, you’re even dumber than you sound.
I’m not totally opposed to HCQ being non-prescription. It certainly has its risks, but a whole bottle of Tylenol will also kill you.
I’m opposed to hyping HCQ as a miracle with no downsides. If every person over 80 with pre-existing heart conditions (which there are millions of) started taking them prophylactically, it will certainly cause deaths from QT prolongation. We warn people that a whole bottle of Tylenol will kill you. You have to have the same attitude with HCQ, which you do not seem to have.

He should have been more honest or at least more quiet about his affair, and he could have been president. To future candidates: your sex life is not our business (unless it’s illegal). Either admit it as one of your failings and you’ve grown, or tell questioners that stuff is not worth discussing and it’s none of their business. Either of those are the correct responses.

Yes he died from COVID—couldn’t breathe and died from lack of oxygen.
Someone made a definitive statement that Cain died due to colon cancer. I corrected that with definitive statement is that we know the death was during an active covid infection, and there has been no reports of cancer relapse yet. If a report comes out there was a relapse then sure, the cancer could have been the primary cause if death.
