When President Trump learned about and then mentioned HCQ, he probably thought that everyone would be on the side of decreasing the severity of the pandemic. IIRC it was before Easter. NYC was given thousands of doses but sabotaged the test by giving it when people were already at or near the ICU stage. I don't think that they used zinc either.

From what I have read, the science of HCQ + zinc works by having the HCQ somehow allow the zinc to get into the cells that are causing the illness. I read an analogy that said that HCQ is like a gun and zinc is like a bullet. Neither is useful without the other. also that HCQ + zinc only works in the first few days after symptom onset. It may not technically be a "cure" because one's own immune system must still take care of the virus but it is vastly more able to do so and with far fewer symptoms.

The only reason I can think of for the media and establishment (CDC, etc) to be so opposed to people having access to HCQ is that, if it is as effective as many doctors believe, it would expose the anti-Trump media and establishment as the evil people that they actually are. They would rather that people suffer and die than have PDJT have a positive.
