There is, as well, a disconnect with what the media are saying - "mostly peaceful, nothing to see here" - and what they're showing because it's sensational. Blatant, strident, incessant racism against a core demographic - white middle and working class voters - isn't helping, and it isn't going away either, in fact, it isn't even being opposed. Worse, the pain is being felt by other key urban demographics. You don't have to win a majority in those to re-elect Trump, you only need to pare down the votes the Dems take for granted.
